Then one day I drove down to the dealer to look at a 997.1 GT3 they had and saw that the Turbo they listed as PDK was actually a manual and I ended up buying it instead after test driving it (the GT3 seemed kind of worn). I wonder if it would have sold faster had it been listed properly.
It is truly amazing how bad most dealers are at identifying a manual transmission (or lack thereof). I think some number of them basically call anything with paddle shifters "manual". Don't see it go the other way as often, as you described, but it certainly happens. This is a particular pet peeve of mine since one bit of constructive criticism we get at AutoTempest pretty often is to fix the transmission filters—but it's actually the dealers submitting the wrong info! Almost makes me want to work out some kind of image recognition to recognize a stick shift. (For anyone who watches Silicon Valley, perhaps we could re-purpose a hot dog identifier...)

The 7.1TT and 6TT are so similar other than styling and refinement that personally I'd have a hard time justifying the swap unless it was a great deal or a spec that I absolutely loved.

A 7.2 or 991 would be much more appealing.

I think design carries a lot more weight in car decisions than most people are willing to acknowledge. One can compare specs on a checklist to justify things either way but that doesn't really tell the whole story.

The vast majority of driving in the US is done under 80mph on relatively straight roads and most cars over 400hp feel pretty fast. What really differentiates one car from the other is the overall look and feel. It's certainly subjective but something as simple as head light design can change the entire front end look of a car.

The cars are not that different but in my opinion the 7tt looks better, is a bit more cspqble, and is a bit more refined.

I think your price delta will be bigger and its not worth it if you like your 6tt
