Manual Transmission - how long is the gap?
Referring to turbos only, when did Porsche stop selling manual transmissions? I know they are coming back... but when?

997.1 Turbo - available in tip and manual
997.2 Turbo - available in PDK and manual
997.2 Turbo S - PDK only
991.1 Turbo and Turbo S - PDK only (no manual)
The first 991.1 Turbo was a 2014 model year so 2013 and below were the last turbos with a manual. That said, once the PDK was available, almost nobody ordered the car with a manual so 997.2 Turbos with a manual are extremely difficult to find but they do exist.
Someone else please chime in if I've missed anything.

Is it a fact that Turbos are getting manuals again?

Yeah, you could get a 6mt until 2013. If I remember right, literally only a couple dozen were ordered that way in 2013. I think the number of 2010-2013 6mt coupes produced total was like 486 or something.

I strongly suspect the 911 Turbo is not going to get a manual again since performance is so much better with the PDK. The very few 997.2 Turbo manuals ordered support the decision to skip the manual Turbo. If you want a new 911 with a manual you have all kinds of options now (GT3, GT3 T, GTS, Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera T). The fact the ultimate Turbo, the GT2, is only available with a PDK also makes me suspect the manual is never coming back to the 911 Turbo.

I'd be shocked if they brought it back.

I spoke with a Porsche dealer last week. He does NOT think turbos will ever have manual shifting in the future because of drivers mashing through 1st and 2nd, banging off rev limiter, etc. "The turbo is supposed to be Porsche's yard stick for what is possible". "They might come back for GTS and lower priced cars".
This is all good news to me relative to our cars holding their value.
