GT/RS wheels and tires on Turbo
Hey Guys,
So I am in the process of putting a set of white/gold GT2/3RS (wide body) wheels onto my 2010 TT MT..
for review purposes:
Turbo stock 235/35/19 8.5 ET 56 305/30/19 11 ET 51
GT2/3RS 245/35/19 9.0 ET47 325/30/19 12 ET 48 (RS cars have fender flares on the front that are added on and not different fenders)
GT3(narrow) 235/35/19 8.5 ET53 305/30/19 12 ET63
some guys are sticking with the Turbo sized tires on the larger rims... I think that I will go with the RS sized tires... It will give me a little more cushion for pot holes and it fills in the fenders much better than the Turbo Stock setup which was designed to be able to accommodate snow chains... plus I just like the way it looks.
(the key to the tire sizes is the rolling diameter so as to not screw with the electronics and differential)
So here is my question...
What considerations should I make for alignment if any? I hear that I possibly cannot get enough adjustment to take advantage of the new setup?
Any other thoughts? Does the 7.2 have the GT2 rear sway bar?

I found a pair of (true RS) fronts on Ebay (he had a second set but appear to be gone...) and I found a pair of white ones in Italy.. I am having them painted to match the fronts.
All four had never been mounted or were immediate take offs...
https://www.ebay.com/itm/CERCHIO-IN-...53.m1438.l2649 delivery was $350 with a $130 duty charge...

The GT3RS wheels will fit with lots of room to spare. Most aftermarket wide body wheels have a more aggressive offset than the stock GT3RS / GT2 wheels.
As for alignment, you shouldn't have any issues with 325/245 or 255 that you wouldn't already have with stock sizes ie you'll be limited by the stock adjustment capability. My tech aligned my car for track/street with stock size wheels / tires (my track wheels) and when running my street 325/245 trim there are no issues at all. You really should add a toe steer kit to the rear & adjustable control arms to the front if you want to dial in a decent alignment for track. If you lower the car, the rear toe steer kit is pretty much required even to get back to factory spec. I use the RSS Tarmac #312 and highly recommend.

Hmmmm... a 255 on the front. I have to be honest, I was already concerned that without the wheel arches that the front wheels would be closer to the edge and not look correct.

I have GT2 RS sized wheels on my car and they look and fit perfect. I have a 997.1 tt so I'm not sure what differences there are for the .2 relating to tire setup and suspension. When I switched to those tires there was no additional setup or adjustments required. The car drives great and was a beast on the track at mid-ohio. Here's a pic...
