'12 TTS Question
These seem to be a very unloved part of the pre-owned Porsche market from absolute price and discount to msrp perspective that can be had. It's not the 997 Mezger engine seems in demand, it's pdk only and it's not NA obviously which seems to be putting pretty high prices on 991.1 prices. But these cars on paper at least seem absolutely amazing. Am I missing some else on them- ie maintence or something else? They seem to be coming off CPOs now as well so maybe more for sale? Just wondering your thoughts-be gentle, I'm a newbie. Thanks

I passed up a chance to buy a 2013 TTS for $104,900 with only 16K miles on it.... Ugh... it was still just too much for my budget.
Drove simply awesome though.

Not sure where you are getting your information but I just got out of a '13 TTS and the car was a champ both in the street and at the track. Further, I got a sweet deal on trade-in with close to 40K miles on her! The 997.2 TTS is an amazing vehicle!

I gathered he was referring to the OP's comment regarding recent discounts or price drops on these. I haven't noticed it either. From what I've seen, prices on these have held pretty steady for quite a while now.

Seems like a great value for what you get. Just wondering if others thought that because they don't seem super loved to me (at least talking to some other p guys, although certainly picking up love posting this on a turbo forum). What do you see as clearing price for a 11 to 13 TTS with sub 25k miles in good condition? I was thinking it would be around 80 to 90?

Unloved?!?! $80k for a 25k mi 2012 TTS? Uhhh, not sure who you're talking to or what ads you're looking at but if you spend 5 minutes going to Autotrader.com and Cars.com you'll see this is all way off base.
WAY off base.
Unloved?!? The only people I would say that don't love this car are people that are totally cray cray time.
These cars are AMAZING and loved by many, many people, some of whom are actually on Rennlist. I suggest you drive one for 5 minutes. That's probably all it will take.
I spent months looking for one and finally got to drive one. In less than 5 minutes I turned around and headed back to the dealer. My friend asked "dude, why are we turning around? They let us drive their car and we drove over an hour to get here. Let's DRIVE THIS THING".
I looked at him and said "dude, there's no need. In about 3 minutes I knew I HAD TO HAVE THIS CAR". This was after owning a mint 993 C4S for 12 years and an 88 911 Carrera for 5 years before that. I just ... knew.

Unloved... lol. What is that supposed to mean OP?
The TTS is selling for $15K to $25K more than a late model 997.1 TT with similar miles and options. The discount range you quoted maybe due to other factors like high mileage, accidents or required maintenance...

Hmm. I think if you analyze again, you'll find the TTS is holding value as well as other turbos. You can't compare to a 991.1 turbo because they are 3 years old max while a 997.2 TTS is 5 or 6 years old. Of course a 6 year old TTS is going to have more depreciation compared to a 3 year old 991.1 Turbo. This is no reflection of anything other than the age of the car. If you compare the 997.1 turbo prices to a 997.2 Turbo S price, you find the 997.2 Turbo S selling at a premium of 30k or so. Again, this is a reflection of the 997.1 being an older car as opposed to people hating the Mezger engine. No Turbo will hold value like a GT3 or other limited production GT car simply because there are a lot more Turbos on the market. If you look at depreciation as a percentage of original MSRP, you'll find the TTS depreciates no more than any other regular production Porsche and you may even find the TTS has less of a depreciation percentage than others. On another metric, I hang around a lot of "car guys" and I've never head anyone thumb their nose at a Turbo S.

Looking back now, the prices aren't as low as I initially thought. Think I was getting thrown off by some higher miles ones or some issues. 80 to 90k would make it amazing deal for a clean one!

Most cars that approach years end either stay strong or are willing to cut a deal. The year change (mentally in buyers minds) hurts the bottom line at the dealers along with cold weather so wait till after Xmas....big deals
