engine question
hello, i am newbie to porsche...
I am getting confused, hope expert can help.
isn't all 3.6L, Mezger engine? like in 997.1 and 997.2?
I thought 3.8L engine ware 9A1(like later 997.2 model?)
i am basically looking for Mezger engine 911 turbo, i was looking at 2009 997.2 3.6L, want to make sure it is mezger engine.
Thank you again.

Mezger turbos in the 997 are the 997.1 (US years 2007, 2008, and 2009). These came in 3.6L for the TT and 3.8L for the TTS.
The 997.2 are using the new 9A1 3.8L DFI engine. It is the exact same engine&turbos for the TT and TTS
In your case, the 2009 you're looking at is not a .2. 997.2s are US years 2010, 2011, and 2012. What you have there is a 997.1TT (non-S). The 2009 is one of the most sought-after 997s since it has the updated interior (newer electronics) so on the inside it looks like a 997.2. On the outside, the biggest tell is that it still has the non-led taillights.
It is a Mezger though so if this is your thing, you seem to have the right engine.

Thank you for the quick reply, now, it's clear.
If i was gonna update the interior(like new stereo with blue tooth etc), i guess it's ok to look for 2008 997 TT since outside is the same in 2008 and 2009.

Yes, 2009 is still Mezger engine. But like caslca said, has the updated interior and taillights. 2010+ is the DFI.
