Default Dead gauge cluster? Electrical issues

I've been storing my car the past two weeks and kept it on a trickle charger. Fired it up today to go for a spin and the entire display system is dead -- no gauges work, no display whatsoever, the PCM is dead, the spoiler went up when I was driving it around the block and is now stuck up.

Any clue what's going on here? I researched a bit and it seems like sometimes a battery disconnect/reconnect will fix it so I'll try that first...

Good news -- disconnecting and reconnecting the battery did the trick!

Still not sure why it happened in the first place though, perhaps the trickle charger?
