997 GT2 or 997.2 GT3RS
Gents,
I've been losing sleep over this and wanted to get the opinion of this elite crowd on the following.
If one had to chose between a 997 GT2 and a 997.2 GT3RS and money was not an issue at this time, what would the crowd here chose for the long term? I realize that the are two completely different cars. I'm thinking about the collectibility between the two cars going forward and their ultimate values 10-15 years from now.
Thanks for all of your opinions!

Never have focused on collecting/investment values. Drive both and decide which one pushes the right buttons for you. This is a favorite topic on the 991 GT3/RS board besides allocations and pricing.

The GT2 will still sound like a vacuum in 10+ years, cannot beat tach ripping NA mezger sounds.
As for value I would say they will be in the same ballpark in 10+ years

NA is king for me. I highly doubt they will make those in the future. Every car by every manufacturer is turbo.

Why are cars an investment now? - yes values have gone up. I know I am old but noone 10-20 years ago ever asked about future value when considering a P car.
Buy the car that excites you, if it goes up great, if not who cares - life is short.

For reference, I bought my 87 930 for $37k and my 94 Turbo 3.6 for $47k, both used and still have them. But then, I bought my '03 GT2 new for $195k and sold it for $77k!!!! (Ended up buying it back for $80k), bought my '08GT2 new for $203k and sold it for $125k to buy a GT2RS for $205k...I can go on and on with just my moves...you catch my drift. Win some and lose some...at the end it all averages out.
I personally love the GT2 variants and own a couple now. The power is intoxicating, the sound well...you know.

Im contemplating the switch also, biggest concern for me is after having driven gt2 will gt3 feel slow....gt2 is one of the few cars that excited and freightened me at the same time.

NA GT3RS for me any day.
was said here before, plenty of turbo cars going forward. 5 to 10 years from now, any base turbo Carrera or even Cayman will be faster than our 997s.

Thanks for all of the opinions. My first P car was a 6GT3 which I absolutely loved. Just because it's my nature to keep a car for only a couple of years, I sold it to buy a 7GT2. Like some of you here, I was blown away by the power. It wasn't as "raw" as the 6GT3 but I think thats a 996->997 thing... Yes, the sound left something to be desired though.
Now I have recently sold my GT2 and like when I sold the 6GT3, I have sellers remorse. Just wanted to hear some of the other opinions out there but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a .2RS sometime in the future

Both great cars. GT2 is a thrilling beast and still one of Porsche's fastest production cars ever made - almost 10 years later. The novelty never wears off for me. Add simple cross over pipe and they sound great. Should you choose to do so, a few moderate mods and you are pushing 600+ hp and 580+ lb ft (but really not needed with this car). Probably fewer than 200 left in U.S. so that bodes well for future value. I personally love driving the 3RS but if I could only have one, its the GT2 for me. Good luck. You cannot go wrong either way.

sound will obviously be the second biggest issue, and no turbo car can compete with that NA wail. the linearity of the power delivery in the NA cars and the overall feel is really special/perfect imo. but they are significantly slower than the turbo cars, its a tough decision if you're using them 100% on the street. the power and torque is intoxicating and tough to forgo if you're used to it.
