Another Battery Thread
Hi folks, disclaimer I did search prior and found this topic on battery replacement and the handy tip on how to get the frunk to pop when completely dead:
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...ement-diy.html
Anyway, the Porsche dealer as well as NTB had 4 or 5 different recommendations on what to replace with. The previous battery was an Interstate MTP II/2. Based on the thread above, it seems like many recommended the MTP 48/H6, so I purchased it.
However, the battery is much smaller in length, maybe by 2 inches. Additionally, the overflow tube is in a different location.
Am I using the right battery? Every thread I find has a different recommendation.
Thanks for helping a mechanical dumbs!t :-)

I just replaced the battery in my GT3 (same year). I went with this make / model from Advance Auto:
AutoCraft Platinum AGM Battery, Group Size H7, 850 CCA
Part No H7-AGM
It too was a little shorter than the Interstate battery I was replacing. Works fine. As you likely observed, there are a few sets of holes in the mounting tray for different standard length batteries. They all output ~12VDC. The main thing re: working or not is mostly that it can be made to attach properly to the vehicle. Most of us don't drive the cars in super cold temps, so CCA is usually not too big an issue.

Odyssey battery, REnnline battery mount, Genius Charger by Noco and call it a day. Mine's been in the car for over 3 years and still as strong as day 1.

What did that setup run you Driver? I was looking at the various solutions along those lines and in the end it seemed like a $600 solution to a $200 problem. Lots of ways to skin a cat I reckon...

I either got this 1,200 or the 975 series. My car is under a cover in the garage ut I'll go out there and check it later to confirm. All in I think I spent around $500. Not bad for a little less weight, nice lightweight battery, beautiful battery mount and a charger that will last me a lifetime.

That mount is sexy. I've not seen that charger before. I may pick one of those up for next winter, but I don't want to think about that right now (it's 43F here right now for crying out loud).
