Aaand the other show dropped. Tire Rack just called that they can't meet the delivery commitment for rear tires that was in place when they took my $/order. So now I will have to scramble and either get 18's or find PS2 rear's elsewhere (which seems unlikely). Leaving for the track on 10/13 so has be worked out by then.

I used 19s. 245/40/19 on front and 325/30/19 on back. Last set of track tires I had on the car. Corded them a month or so ago. Got a lot of days out of them and they were fast.

So a quick follow up here. I ended up using the RE71Rs on stock narrow body GT3 wheels I bought from a rennlist member. They were from 2018 but looked (and ended up working) pretty much like new. Two days at NJMP (one on each track) to get used to track events again and to my new to me 997.1 GT3. Had a great time, ended up with hot tire pressures around 32F/34R. The front tires are 245/35/19 and the rears 305/30/19. Good tire temps overall and slight rubbing on the fronts at full lock (nbd). A great experience and lots of fun. Took me close to the end of the 2nd day before I began to feel like "myself" again after being out of the game since 2017.
My question now is, I've got a set of PS2 Cups waiting in the garage for when the RS71R's wear out. Those are stock 997.1 GT3 sizes, so the fronts are 235/35/19 vs. the 10mm larger RE71R. The incremental cost to get that extra 10mm width is about $125/tire additional. I'm inclined to just go with what I have (it won't be used until next spring). The car felt pretty well balanced with the RE71R setup.

Back in the racing days I would do whatever it took to make the grid, but nothing beats being prepared before you leave the garage.
Cleaning off bugs I always try to do at the track
