Default 997.1 gt3 diff and gear box oil schedule

hi guys,
am I reading the schedule maintenance interval for the diff and gear box oil correctly when it says 96,000 miles or 12 years for a 997.1 gt3? Wow that sounds like a lot. Is that right? Is that what folks are doing in practice?

thanks

I track mine so I change it once per year.
That's about 4 weekend events.

Track time?

If not I'd do every couple years (every other oil change). Its not expensive and good pull the covers, inspect around, to look at the plug etc.

If with track time i'd do it at a min every other oil change (~10 track days)

buying this car, id want the tranny fluid changed and check for filings.

The factory LSD packed out long ago, so you can live with it or replace it with a Guard unit depending on your budget and intended use.

very helpful, thank you! What other items would you do if you were new to the car that are outside of the regular scheduled maintenance? For example, i think power steering fluid is lifetime - would you change that?

plugs and coils would be something id do if they have not yet been done.

The real service would be to replace the coolant lines and fittings. That is something i would have to do. They tend to fail given their age and the more track miles the more prone they are to failure.

Sorry for hijacking but speaking of trans oil changes.

Has anyone used Motul Gear 300 instead of Mobil Delvac?

I don't think the manual strictly calls for Delvac, just calls for a specific weight and rating.
I've used Motul Gear 300 in other application with great success and was just wondering if anyone has tried it in their GT3 trans.

I use MOTUL GEAR COMPETITION 75W140
Last 3-4 tranny changes.
I like its performance better than Delvac under cold conditions and it seems similar under hot.
We've tried this under advice of Bill Rader as an option vs. Delvac.
Seems good.

WOW 75W140, doesn't the manual call for a 75W90?
Surprised that you went with 140 with no issues. I think it proves that the trans is not picky at all.

Based on Spyerx's comments, I went with the Motul gear oil.

My 997.1 GT3 still had the factory fill in it (34,000 miles), rather change it than wait for the recommended service interval.

Wow, this stuff is amazing, noticed a difference in shifting immediately, blue color and totally worth it. I'm a convert !

For myself and all TPC customers for track use is every 10-12 track days.

^^^ Same. I do transmission every other oil change. I change oil every ~5 track days. Trans ~10 days.

Ive been very pleased with the Motul. Delvac was fine too, but I feel cold shift is much better on the Motul.
