Default Salvage 07 GT3

What do ppl think a salvaged 07 GT3 with less than 20K miles would be worth?

It had about 40K worth of damage to it but put back together by a reputable body shop and Porsche dealership.

There was about $400 worth of frame (tub/unibody) damage that was repaired as well.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Personally I wouldn't pay over $60k for a car like that.

what is your intended usage?

i would gladly consider salvage for a track/race car. is the car mechanically sound? (clean DME, spec compression results, transmission/clutch ok)

barring those, my concern is with the tub/unibody/frame damage. $400 isn't alot, but that's about 3-4hrs of labor. my concerns are even more so, if using this car on the track, at the limits.

with an 'other than' clean title status, you will most likely be the final owner. it's really really hard to sell a salvage/rebuilt title car, at least from my experience.

60K seems high to me. clean 997.1 GT3s are trading around 80-90. so at least half that to make it worthwhile to me. but YMMV.

$40K doesn't seem like enough damage to cause the car to be declared a total loss and be assigned a salvage title. (I had a new (just 2K miles, 4 weeks old) 2008 Cayman S declared a total loss after being hit but the damage estimate was over $40K when the other driver's insurance adjuster stopped counting. The car listed for $62.6K though it was on sale and I only paid $50.6K at the dealer.)

Be sure you can register/insure the car where you are with its salvage title. The car will be a hard sell if you decide to not keep it. Well, not that hard to sell if you are willing to reduce your asking price. This of course signals you need to be very aware of how much you pay, too.

Be sure the car passes a thorough road worthiness inspection. And be sure the wheel/tire alignment is spot on and none of the alignment adjustments are used up or maxed out to get the car aligned. This is a sign of a bent/twisted tub, essentially a poor repair, and you want to avoid buying a car in this condition.

Can you get pictures, details of the accident?
I would think that if the car was hit in the front half that would be much better as the damage was away from the motor... therefore less risk...

Only $400 of frame damage? Thats nothing. Thats a tweak. Been thru this with a Turbo. If the title is tarnished like that I think its a 35% discount to $50K or so max and sold as a track car.
