So im in the market for a sports car and I have narrowed it down too 2 cars that are in pretty much the same price point. the ford gt350r and the 997 gt3. honestly i love the look of both cars, but I just can't decide which one too get. I would be really interested in everyone else's opinion on which one you think would be a better buy.

Are you looking for value or for a car that's more engaging to drive? Seems odd at that price point.
Given you're on a 997 GT3 board, we all know which car most will pick here.
GT350 too big and heavy. 5 years from now I doubt it will be relevant to anyone other than the Mustang faithful. 997 GT3 will probably be still be highly desired.

I have a 997 GT3 and purchased a GT350 on what I've been reading about it. I have both and have had them to the track.
I took the 350 to the track expecting to be blown away by its performance but my times were not as good and I couldn't figure out why.
I had a close friend (who is a professional driver) drive the 350 to get his opinion.
Read the November issue of Motor Trend it says it all.
The 350 is a great DD and looks great and is a good track car but the GT3 is hard to beat on the track.

i considered both.
hard to hide weight on the track no matter how good your suspension or HP.
gt3 looks far better in my biased opinion. and once the coolant lines are pinned/welded, surprisingly durable/reliable.
I DD mine, no firmer than my F80 on 'sport' suspension mode. doesn't beat me up at all. the howl of the flat 6 puts a smile on my face every time.
the GT350/r does sound pretty good, but the driver engagement is second to none in the GT3.

Easy decision. Porsche GT3.
Ford GT350R is highly capable and probably quicker than the 997.1 GT3 in some aspects, but GT350R's are hard to find without markup. Combined with new car depreciation, that makes the GT350R a poor value in my book.

Both great cars, but only one is a "sports car" and its not the one from Dearborn (sp?).
better buy?
Depends on what you want from the car, we can't answer that.

SO hard advice on what car to buy. Especially when the cars are so different like in this case.
Is it a Daily driver?
If yes, what are your roads like?
If weekend car/ occasional track?
Different answer again.
Is value important????

Very different cars. The engine type (flat6 versus v8), engine location, and difference in wheelbase are what make the driving experience unique for each of them. Exterior styling and interior build quality would be another factor to consider.

I saw a GT350R at Sears a few weeks back, great looking car, but one day on
the track had toasted the front MPSC2's ...
if you love Mustang's then the GT350R is the one to get, if you love Porsche's its the 7.2 GT3 IMO.

thanks for all of the comments guys I really appreciate it, I just test drove a 997.2 gt3 and I think I found my new drug of choice. God damn is it one hell of a car. To be honest it was actually my first time driving a legitimate sport car. I think I've made my choice lmao. What is everyones thoughts on what options I should look for? Are the bucket seats worth it? ( It'll be a weekend car that I might take to the track a couple times a year). Are the PCB's good for resale value? Is there anything I should look out for when looking at the car?
