Shout out from another previous owner of an E30 M3. 1991 Alpine White over tan. Sold about 10 years ago. Kick myself all the time about it. Only had 72,000 miles on it at the time. Probably wouldn't even have 80,000 today and be worth 5x what I sold it for.
I totally understand! And happy new year to you.
I took this photo just for you: a) The M3 is actually on Ohlins and yet it sits so much taller than the 997 b) I just realized that I need to hang pictures/posters on the "north end" of my shop...too busy...
Bumping an old thread. I had the same colors on my M3. Lachsilber is waaaaay nicer than Sterling. I'd never seen another with Cardinal until now but I'm not tight in the E30 community. Miss that one....
I heard from Alex aka Sharkwerks that the person who I sold it too in 2019 was possibly going to be selling, I still had his contact info so without put hesitation I contacted him and wired funds a couple days later. I have always missed this one after I sold it. It was my daily driver and I knew the history and the amazing condition it was in.
I thought I could replace it with a new F80 M3 that was a big mistake, sold that and picked up a .2 Turbo S that was daily, super quick super comfy dumped some dollars into it to bring it up to standards then Alex alerted me that my 997.1 was potentially available so sold the Turbo S, now look who's here...ICEPICK...I do not normally name my cars but its suitable chipping away at my wallet...
Still ZERO over-revs! Owner sent to Sharkwerks for their amazing 3.9 build, Bilstein Clubsport coilovers and RSS suspension bits which was completed in 5/2020 at 28961miles, now only 29960!. Shortly after that it went to La Jolla Audio in SoCal for an audio makeover, something I would not consider myself but it was a no expense spared build with Audiotec-Fischer, Audison, Illusion Audio.
The guy I sold it to lived in SD and moved to Boise and now into overlanding and ICEPICK was not seeing much use, so thank you to both him and Alex for the reuniting...
What a great story! I add that a 3.9 is superb - best mod ever to a 3.6. Seems absolutely no downside - it’s just better as an engine everywhere. Well done.
