Question about a new (non GT3) daily driver
Does anybody here have a Range Rover Sport as a DD? Looking at a 2016 and I really like it.
I've never owned a Land Rover before and I thought I heard they are not the most reliable vehicle. Should I be worried about that as this still has the new car warranty?
Any feedback is appreciated.

I was looking at that vehicle also. I opted for a Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Wife was looking for this car. She decided to go with a 2016 X5 with M sport package. Main reason was the maintenance cost of the Rover (around $3k in 4 years). BMW had 4 years or 50,000 miles maintenance free of charge at that time. They have reduced that to 3 years or 36,000 miles for their 2017 MY vehicles.
Also the 3rd row space of the bimmer seems a little bigger than the rover.
We both agree the Rover looks better and more modern than the X5.

If budget allows, Bentley is about to launch their new Bentayga SUV in the U.S. I drove one in the UK last month and was extremely impressed. All the technology you could want with the off road capability of a Range Rover and performance of a Cayenne Turbo S. 600 BHP W12 Twin Turbo, 0-60 in 4 flat and more wood and leather than a Wall Street boardroom. I'll have mine in Ghost White please.

I daily drive a full size, my wife a sport
Both 2016, TD6
Traded a macan s and pepper diesel in on them
I don't miss the Porsches at all.
If you can afford it get the full size, much more truck than a sport

LR4 and RR Evoque here. LR4 is a great ride - love the power and comfort. We have 60k miles on it with no issues other than regular maintenance (brakes / oil, etc). The Evoque is a 4 banger turbo and gets great gas mileage. Very easy car to commute with (start/stop feature works well).
The Range Rover Sport is very nice. I imagine it rides much like the LR4, but has more power and is a more refined.

thanks for all the replies.
the model i'm looking at is the SVR. it has damn near everything on it. not sure, but i'm thinking it's got bigger brakes than the other models in the sport range.

2008 Range Rover sport with 120,000 miles on it. Primary purpose is Wife's car, also serves as tow vehicle. I tow a 20 foot enclosed and it will run 75 to 80 mph all day long. Only issue ever, other than normal maintenance, was one of the air suspension dampers had to be replaced. It is far cheaper to maintain than Porsche or my BMWs. Parts are reasonable, labor is the same as any other dealer. We will replace with the larger one the next time around. As said, the Sport is a car, the bigger one is a truck.

I had one for 18 months or so and had one of the first of the new gen - I loved it and had zero issues in 25K miles. Mine was an autobiography. I highly recommend getting the upgraded stereo. It rocked. I even had the 7 seater. I switched to the GL63 AMG only for more room, otherwise I would still have the RRS.
