Default Gt3.2 steel rotors replacement

What is the most cost effective way of replacing steel brakes on a .2 gt

The research I've done so far points to cup steel 380 front and 997 turbo rear.

I have these for sale if anyone's interested: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...-2-gt3-rs.html

Can throw in a set of used PFC-08 pads as well.

Once the factory rotors wear down, we typically upgrade our clients to the Brembo Racing Type III 2pc rotors. They come in 380x34mm front and 350x28mm rear.

Fortunately, as one continues to wear through the rotors, proceeding replacement cost will only be the cost of the rotor rings, not the whole ring/hat assembly.

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot us a PM!

Still lots of bling bling

My 997.1 I ran cayenne rotors, they are dirt cheap.

997.2 rotors are way more expensive

Ya but the rings aren't bad and they last a loooong time. Xpecially the type 5. And work on .2 cars... I wore cup rotors almost as fast as Oem... And I'm not that fast.

100% agreed! Paired with proper brake pads and driver technique, the Brembo Type III or V rotor ring will last a VERY long time.

We typically pair ours with the Race Technologies RE10 which plays very nicely with rotor rings, despite having a strong initial bite.

Define "very long time"

What part number is the Cayenne rotor and do they work as well as the factory 997.1 rotors?

We run the Type III rotor ring. We're about 11 days completed for 2016 and have used roughly 0.3mm of material from our last measurement. This is a nice mix between Road America, Autobahn Country Club, Blackhawk Farms, and Gingermany Raceway. Pending the track, we either used the Race Technologies RE10 (more enduro pad) or RA70 (more sprint pad).

Lots of great options out there from different brands that also suit many different driver styles.

I don't know on type 5, type iii last front set lasted me 30 de days and were still usable but the grooves were getting shallow (not cracked through anywhere). The rears lasted 2 years.

type 5 should last longer.

longevity is one point, braking feel is another. whatever metal composition is in the brembo rotors 'feels' much better than the stock or cup rotors. (those are my only comparisons).

one other thing, the red drive pins don't fit exactly right in the cup rotors.

Lost a bit here.. Could anyone definere which Cayenne rotors work with .2? I'm guessing they come with hats, or are the ring replaceable? A haven't gotten around to messing with my brakes yet, as all was A OK till now...

And there are actually cheaper, comparable to regular GT3 OEM discs, fit with stock (ore replacement 3rd party) pads and all? Sounds too good to be..

They only work with .1 Not .2

I just did the rotors on my 997.1 GT3. Originally PCCB, so 380 up front and 350 (turbo) in the back. Just like yours. I am not sure if our calipers are the same size though.

Be careful if you use cup rotors as you'll need to buy pads that are made for the cup rotor. The are a bit lower profile top to bottom than standard. Standard pads have to be ground down so they don't rub on the hat.

I went with Girodisc two piece in the front. $1600 for the pair.
Zimmerman one piece in the rear $1000 for the pair.
Both are slotted rather than cross drilled.

I went with a mixed set to save a few bucks and to see if there is any wear difference in the two. Rotors are a wear item so if I'm not happy I'll always have the opportunity to make another change.

With Pagid blacks I'm thrilled with the stopping power and feel on the track. So far, it feels like I've done the right thing. I have about 5 track days on the rotors and all looks good.
