2007 GT3 or 2015 991S?? help me decide :)
I am going back and forth between these 2 models and need some advice on which one will give me more driving satisfaction and overall better 1st time Porsche experience.
The car will only be driven a couple days per week and will not be a daily driver. I plan to maybe do 3 track days a year with it. Mostly the car will just be enjoyed on the streets and taking my son for car rides. (he is 4) I understand I will probably have to put rear seats in the GT3 to accomplish this.
My other main concern is depreciation as I tend to only keep cars for about a year. Both cars are in the $80 range and Im concerned the 991 has plenty of depreciation left in it while the 997 GT3 has pretty much flat lined for the most part.
I don't want y'all to think I'm buying one of these cars for a investment opportunity jut want to make the best decision possible based on how I will use the vehicle and overall enjoyment. This will be my first Porsche so any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

Well if you came to the gt3 subforum it is because you are thinking gt3. 2 different cars and for what you will be doing with it i'll go gt3. Manual, track oriented, retains better it's value for a 9 year old ride and the driver's experience. 991 S is newer so you get all the gadget and electronics but you'll take a hit at the time of resale.
..... Ok I just read the part when you said you'll be mainly street driving with your son so needed the back seats... Get a 991 gts instead. It is the best of both world. Street and track + back seats + comfort perks. GL

Have you driven the cars? The GT3 is a bit on the wilder side. It has more character, but it is harder to drive (stiffer clutch, stiffer suspension, more outdated electronics). When you drive the GT3 it should speak to you, if it doesn't there's no shame, just buy the 991 S.
I drive my GT3 like once a week to be honest. It has so much grip that the fun is not there on the street. But when on track I let her loose!
If you're not a hardcore track driver and just want to enjoy a nice sports car then get the 991 S. If you want an aggressive car to make you feel like you're in an old fashioned race car feel, spartan car then get the GT3. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice thus far. The owner of the GT3 messged me back so I am in deliberations with both partys. Deep down I would like to own the GT3 only because it's a little more exclusive and rare but the 991S has all the recent upgrades and technology. This is a very hard desision but it will be made by monday.
thanks again.
thanks again.

I am not sure adding a rear seat to the gt3 is a very safe idea - maybe somebody has done but I have not seen that done. Based on your situation I would get the one with 4 seats and get a gt3 down the road.

For a first time Porsche buyer it is hard to sort everything said about these cars. I believe that most if not all comments about the GT3 being too stiff, harsh, hard to drive, etc. come from first time Porsche owners. As a 39 year Porsche owner, most early aircooled, my '08 GT3 feels like a luxury car. I am sure the newer models are improved, but the GT3's are purpose built, focused cars. They, the GT3's, are at the pinnacle of performance. If that is what you are looking for nothing else will satisfy you. If your priorities are elsewhere then you need to move on to what satisfies those needs. In the end the GT3 is a no compromises choice.

My father recently purchased a 964 Carrera and that thing leans like a boat in turns The clutch and the brake pedals are also stiff on that car though, will admit...

I am starting to lean towards the 991S as it may be a better choice so i have a fully backed Porsche warranty and I don't have to worry about nothing except enjoying the car. The seat in the back will be important to me as my 4 year will be pissed if he can't come with me. Thank you of the great advice so far.
Another one I may look in to is the GTS model. There are not that many out there unfortunately and I'm wondering it it is worth the extra $25,000.
Decisions decisions........
