DME OVER REVS?
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and a new, well hopefully new GT3 owner.. I'm looking at a 2010 997.2 with about 25,000 miles. The DME report is as follows.
range 1 - 557
range 2 - 173
range 3 - 134
range 4 - 96
range 5 - 0
range 6 - 0
Operating hours counter overspeed range 1 - 681.600, range 2 - 553.600, range 3 - 553.600, range 4 - 553.600, range 5 & 6 - 0. Total hours 743.600.
Thanks again!
Now all this means **** to me?! But after doing some research before throwing down nearly $120k I'm a little nervous! It's from a Porsche dealer and it was a Press car. The car looks great, but had a really heavy clutch(maybe i'm just used to my M5 lazy driving?)
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Cheers

You couldn't give me a press car
You do realize what they do with press cars right? Go watch Chris Harris video, but only imagine the guy who actually cant drive worth a sh*t trying to do harris moves

Sounds like you are looking at this car?

You could have saved $20k if you bought it last month. The over revs scared me away when it was priced at $104k.

Range 1 happened 60 hours ago and the rest happened nearly 200 hours ago. One big shift miss and 1 little one. Car should be fine.
If any car that is ok from a press car is a gt3. You can beat the snot out if these and they keep going.

Yah i low balled at $110,000 as it's in at 124?! Told me no chance! You think if i could get for 110 it would be worth it? Theres another over in seattle.. That seems a bit dodge too.. Maybe i should just get a 991 with warranty and call it a day??

the DME while not virgin, it is not bad.
but 120 price tag not right.

FYI - I wouldn't worry about the press car status (as much). I used to work for a high end manufacturer and our press cars would not really get beat. Driven? Yes. As in lots of asses in the seat. But these guys are talented with the pen not their footwork or they would be hot shoes for a living. In fact, it's a little disheartening the disconnect between how the press guys write/talk and what they actually can do behind the wheel. Chris Harris of course is another level.

That's Rusnak for you. They are 'strategically located' in wealthy parts of towns (Western Pasadena, La Canada, or Westlake) where most people buy these cars as status symbols with almost no negotiations. One friend wanted to buy a particular 997 back in the day, when he made them an offer of $2000 off MSRP, they replied with "...you're not ready to buy this car..."
