997GT3RS or 991GTRS decisions decisions...
Guys: I am trying to decide on whether I should acquire the new 991GT3RS or buy a very nice low mileage 997GT3RS. Prefer the 2010/2011. As far as the 997RS looking to spend in the $180K range. Don't see the advantage of paying huge money for a "near delivery" mile RS since I do want to enjoy it and not really worry about mileage.
What are the pros and cons of each. I completely understand the technical superiority of the 991RS but.....
I have a deposit for a new RS at my dealer on next allocation but don't know if I can hold out!!!!

FWIW, I think they are both great. I think if choosing one, it somewhat depends on your intended usage and budget. I think the 3.8RS at $180k is a deal compared to maybe $275k for a 2016.
For a fun weekend car for Cars and Coffee and scenic drives for lunch/dinner etc.., the 3.8 RS is hard to beat. My 3.8RS feels a bit more dramatic to me than the 991RS. With its SW bypass exhaust it is nicely loud, and quite raw feeling. The carbon brakes are about the best I have driven.
For more extended driving, the 991RS (depending on config) might have some more creature comforts and a factory warranty if mileage usage will be higher. It can easily wear two hats - track car, and pretty comfie tourer for what it is.
For a lot of track use, the 991RS has many technical advantages, but probably better to ask one of the pros.

Does the 991RS have better balance and weight distribution than the GT4 ?
I'd think the driving experience of the GT4 is much closer to the 997 than the 991.
Bazinga!

Posting this question in the 997 forum, you'll get comments about driving dynamics and motorsport heritage.
Doing the same in the 991 forum, you'll start a discussion about black LED headlights, polo shirts, colored key fobs, and deviated stitching knickers.
That's about all you need to know.

Two different cars.
The 997RS is a classic now. The steering, the manual tranny. All good car guy stuff. Great weekend car to blow off some steam or cars n coffee.
The 991RS is the best 911 to date. Does everything very well, including daily driving. To good to park all week.
Depends what you plan on using it for.
Both will hold value as all RS do...

997rs every day of the week. The 991rs is great but IMO lost a bit of the soul. It's a great DD and brilliant at the limit.
The 997rs is maybe not the best DD but a more fun car for us mortals in every other situation.
And it's about $100k cheaper.

Waxer, no one can answer this question for you and our opinions are based on our situations. I own 11 Porsche's and cannot tell you which is my favorite, my '08 GT3 is my favorite water car, also my only one at this time. But each has a place and what it does better than the others. They all leave me with an ear to ear grin. You cannot make a mistake between your choices so pull the trigger and enjoy and if you are lucky you may get to enjoy a few more along the way. The only wrong choice is to not choose.
