Dumb brake caliper question
What is the purpose of the silver metal posts near the top and bottom Pistons that are inside the caliper in this picture? Is it a brake pad wear indicator? It looks like if you let your pads get too thin those posts would hit the rotor?

Lol the posts don't move. They guide the pad. Lower part of pad rides on them. Top part on the bolt.

+1, pad supports. They(or caliper) don't move.

I get that they don't move but if your pad wears too thin (to the backing plate) would those posts hit the rotor? It seems like they would be a fixed distance from the rotor.
Right now my pads have about 5mm pad life yet and those posts look like they would touch the rotor if my pads wear down another 2-3mm and would definitely hit if the pads were at the backing plates.

the posts never move relative to the disc...only thing in the brake system that changes position are the pistons and pads...calipers, posts, disc retain the set position
