I've tracked my 997.1 non RS at least 7-8 times in the advanced/instructor run groups on street tires, NT01 and Pirelli slicks and don't feel like my LSD has worn out. Either that problem is blown out of proportion or my car has had the LSD changed already.

Mine feels more like an open differential But my biggest fear is of course the coolant lines. Plus not having a tow vehicle, I cannot risk those stupid hoses backing out on me...

^ the back out on street drives too it's when not if.
i just touched an engine that's out today. one fitting fell off just by touching it. i kid you not.
if u haven't pinned, you are on borrowed time. $5000 job is way cheper than hitting the wall or fly off the canyon when it dumps.

^ I'm aware of the dangers and cannot really drive the car to my liking because of it. Waiting to schedule with BBI hopefully within the next 2 weeks.

^ And if you're going to the trouble of dropping the engine, don't half *** with pins. They won't dump, but will leak in time. Weld 'em

That's the way BBi does it and also the way I prefer.

For those who are concerned about having no trailer to get home from some sort of track or road incapacitation, i highly recommend an AAA tow package. I have had one for years, not very expensive, and my Cobra came back on a rollback three times from a race track. Then too, several months ago I had our GT3 on a rollback three times in less than 24 hours when it had an engine problem a thousand miles from home. I had a hundred mile package, and have upgraded to a two hundred mile package, because out west, a hundred miles won't get you very far.

AAA allows seven "calls" per year, anything from seven tows to seven lock outs or jump starts. I get one 200 mile tow in my package. You just call, say you need a rollback, and before long, it shows up. The ones i have used in the past have been very cautious with my car.

I'm welded, by the way.

All the best...
