My new to me 7.2 GT3RS...
I have been blessed to have joined the club having recently purchased a 2011 GT3RS.
I decided to begin Drivers Education last year to really learn how to drive my first Porsche, a 2003 996 C2 I acquired in 2013. I started HPDE last year and did 24 track days. More importantly, I was fortunate to become connected with a fantastic group of instructors who have taken me in and not only mentored me, but have quite literally become my closest friends. I cant thank them enough for all the time and guidance they have given me (Rick Betterley, Jonathan Katz, David Kane, Scott Keller and Al Carbone). Just an amazing and fantastic set of guys.
I plunged down the slippery slope about as fast as anyone could. Very quickly into my first year, I had a lot of the safety and preventative maintenance work done on car that would be necessary for tracking seriously (believe me, its a laundry list). Last November, I also picked up a Q7 diesel and an enclosed Trailex.
My intention always was to step up in vehicle performance at the end of this season. In July, I noted a couple of 7.2 RS' for sale on Rennlist. I was pursuing one rather hard and was ultimately sold to someone that placed a deposit just before I did after a couple of weeks of the buyer negotiating. A bit frustrated, I reached out to Mooty who helped me in identifying a car that was for sale. I purchased the car thru San Francisco Sports Cars (Sam Cameron and Brad Goldstone were great to work with).
I cant say enough about Mooty - incredibly nice, super responsive, always willing to help and look out for me - another shining example of the type of people that is this great enthusiast community. I cant thank him enough and quite frankly, never would have found the gem I did without him.
So, I bought my car sight unseen and had shipped from San Fran to the guys at Speedsport Tuning for a bit of work. Its white with all the graphics removed, and champagne accents (front lipstick, side mirrors and rear wing endplates). Simple and beautiful "naked" like that. I had the coolant pipes welded, did the 5-lug conversion, removed the PCCBs and went with Girodisk slotted rotors, and got a set of the OZ Superforgiatta rims. The boys (Chris Provan and my tech, Brian) got it all done for me and really took care of me so I could make my first track event with my new baby (the Rennsport end of season event in September at Mont Tremblant - many thanks to Bob Rouleau for taking me in and riding with me to help me understand the dynamics of my car given his incredible amount of experience in an RS).
Boy, what a car. Actually, its not a car - its a weapon. Such an amazing vehicle to drive and such a beast. I definitely have a very healthy respect for the car, and am loving learning how to dance with my girl "Anastasia" at the track (and will for years to come).
Yes - I am tracking my car, and plan to do so going forward. I dont care if it appreciates or depreciates. I cant NOT drive this thing. That would be such a shame and honestly, its where she belongs.
So I'm off to VIR this coming weekend with my cadre of friends, all of whom will be there. A couple of us have said that we are looking as forward to being all together as to be driving. Its true...
I cant say enough about how fulfilling my journey in HPDE has been thus far. The cars and tracks are great, but its all been about the people I have come to know and be associated with. Thank you all.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the track.
Just off the transport at Speedsport before any work done, and then in the paddock at Mont Tremblant...

Absolutely amazing vehicle and, more importantly, it couldn't have gone to a more stand-up, guy!!! Congrats all the way around.
See ya at VIR!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to the group getting together for the final event of the season.

Thanks all for the great comments !
I'm so lucky to even have this car and more importantly all those that I have met. Its amazing how much this entire group goes out of the way for each other. Truly special...
Been traveling for work all week and 1/2 way back home at this point. Car is all loaded up for a long (10+ hr) tow to VIR for Friday thru Sunday to end the season.
I'll try to get some more pics and post them during / after the event. Video ? Have to get that from one of my friends...you'll see me until the point by that I give !!
