Thanks Spyrex,
I just replaced the filter. the box came out just as you instructed but it didn't separate from the flexible rubber boot even though the clamp was very loose.
I think I'll let a Porsche specialist tackle the belt, plugs and fuel filter.
Thanks again,
Lawrence

Must have been stuck, if you twist i'll come loose. But sounds like you were able to get the filter replaced anyway.

Thanks everyone for the input on how to remove the airbox. Very easy to do and would have taken less than 30 mins if I would have not been cleaning everything as I went.
Just one note, the hardest part to remove was the MAF plug. To do so, you have to first pull back on the rubber boot that protects the wiring and then you'll notice a little clip that you can squeeze to disconnect it. This took me a while to figure out as I was initially trying to just squeeze the sides of the MAF plug and it didn't want to come off.
I also would recommend getting new hardware and grommets while you're in there. My car has 25k miles. The air filter was far from dirty although was definitely a different color than the new filter I was replacing it with. But the main reason I decided to replace the air filter was actually to replace some of the hardware as my airbox was slightly loose.
I'd recommend:
99611013171 (air filter)
99970347840 (two of these, although mine were fine)
99970224640 (one of these, mine was fine, but when I replace the part below, the part below fits inside of it so it made sense to do it)
99711013701 (one of these, mine was broken)

what are all the other parts listed here? Are they important?

Not necessary. Typically when I do these jobs, I try and replace the hardware associated with it. There's two rubber grommets that I replaced, along with a plastic piece that fit into another rubber grommet. The parts weren't too expensive and with 15+ years of heat, I figured it would be good to do. In my case, one of the items was broken which was causing the airbox to be loose and it was driving me nuts every time I would clean the engine bay after a wash.
