997.1 vs 997.2 GT3RS
I am in the market for a 997 GT3RS, however I am not sure which one to go after. In terms of the 997.1 vs 997.2 which one should I look for, in terms of resale, performance, or anything I may need to look out for?
Thanks for the help!

With similar mods the .2 real advantage is the gearing. Stock for stock mooty is right.
My car runs strong and don't really get pulled on straights. But gearing has its advantage on the tracks around here.
Personally I like the look of the .1 better, and I like the 3.6 motor. It just feels revvier and more lively to me. The .1 cars are less complicated not having variocam on both intake and exhaust.
I think at this point you shop condition, color and don't get too hung up on .1 or .2.

I also like the look of the .1 RS better. Probably the best looking water cooled 911 ever. The .2 has traction control and is also 35 hp more powerful. I think it pulls on the .1 quite well on the straights.

I had .1 GT3 and .2 RS (3.8)
.2 better in every way
Faster, shorter gearing (R&P) makes BIG difference
And .2 don't leak from RMS like EVERY .1 does
Both great cars...drive both & decide which is best for YOU

My .1 does not leak at the rms. Period end of story. Not a drop in over 2 years.
So no, not EVERY .1 does

Four major differences that you will notice:
Motor pulls a bit harder 450 vs 415
Gearing makes a huge difference as everyone says
Suspension is tuned differently, it's more compliant/softer
Aero is vastly better, which on a track with high speed corners, is where most of the extra speed comes from. You can probably retrofit .2 aero onto a .1.
Stock for stock on certain types of tracks, a .2 can be driven much faster. If fast is all that matters then get a 991 I guess - so what it really comes down to i think is the gearing and suspension tuning.

had several of each gen
some .1 and some .2 rms leak
some .1 and some .2 rms don't leak
it has NOTHING to do with driven or not.
this is from personal experience on my own case not rumors

Drifting
Had .1 and .2RS
I really like the the motor in the .1RS
As others have said its easier to go fast in a .2RS
If I was buying today it would be either a pumpkin .1RS or a grey .2RS(would probably have to flip a coin)
