Default GT2 exhaust thoughts/opinions

About to pull the trigger on Sharkwerk's GT2 exhaust (thanks for the help Alex!).

Just wondering if any GT2 owner's have experience with this exhaust or others (or have heard any) and want to give me last minute advice/thoughts/opinions.

I like the Sharkwerks because it's not incredibly expensive, it's bolt on, and it's Sharkwerks.

Why an exhaust?
I ran behind a GMG exhaust equipped 3 RS on the track and can't get the sounds out of my head. I know I'll never achieve that in the lower revving turbo, but I really crave a bit more Ferrari-esque whine. I've got enough of the stock GT2 sounds; which sounds like I am ripping a worm-hole through the earth's atmosphere.

TIA

Hi TIA

In my 997 GT2 I have installed exhaust from EuroPipe (Belgium/Europe). It is stage 2 version and it sounds awsome. So talk to Stef, I guess he is even here on RL.

Here same more details: http://europipe.be/exhausts.html

Greetings Darek

Ps. Try to find out how it sounds on youtube i.e.

While our car is a non-turbo '07 GT3 and hence our car's full Sharkwerks no muffler, straight out from the cats exhaust sound is different than a similar system on a turbo car, I can attest that our car's sound is absolutely intoxicating. Even at idle, it crackles, hisses and pops, and when you run to red line, it just howls and even shrieks as you approach redline. On the over-run, when decelerating, it is equally authoritative and violently intimidating, with a snarl that makes roadside turtles pull back into their shells. It would never pass the sound meter on a track that used such a device.

I don't notice any drone at lower steady-state RPM, but then between my tinnitus (from my army career) and my substantial hearing loss, I likely wouldn't hear it anyway. I wear ear plugs when driving, and don't bother to turn on or up the radio, and my wife will not ride in the car. Fortunately, I have understanding neighbors, or our car's exhaust would cause troubles. We also have a beach place down on Seabrook Island, just sought of Charleston, and our private island does not allow motorcycles on the island, as they can be too disturbing to the serenity of the island. So, I turn off my motor and coast thru the gate, and just wave at the guard, then crank it back up when safely beyond, to avoid being stopped for our car's exhaust.

My son just had our car down at Edisto beach, south of Charleston this past weekend, and when I went down to Columbia yesterday to retrieve our car to begin to prep and load it for our run out to western Nebraska for the Sandhills Open Road Challenge in a week, he told me that when he idled and reved at Edisto, a passenger in the car asked Chris, when seeing so many people stop and turn and stare when they heard our GT3, if such a passerby reaction was common. It is.

So having such an exhaust on a GT3, and likely also for a somewhat muffled turbo car, takes a real commitment and perhaps some sacrifice in a driver's comfort. Then too, our car's "cup" exhaust takes something like 40#'s off the rear of the car, not an insignificant handling improvement.

My son and I agree, that while our car came to us with a variety of really nice aftermarket additions, the one thing we would not give up is our Sharkwerk's exhaust.

Now, out to the garage to begin to fit our helmets and suits and commo and video and such into the nooks and crannies of our GT3 for the run out west.

All the best.....

All about the same in sound, mostly muffled by the turbos and cats. Splitting hairs mostly. All are wildly overpriced especially the ones with the good interwebz reps. Then again, the crappy rep ones are also overpriced as well.

Build quality/fit/finish differ wildly. There are two, three companies that advertise here I wouldn't touch with a 10' pole, suspect build quality/company rep issues mostly. Other than those, the rest are comparable. Good luck, caveat emptor.

I may be biased, but here is a side by side comparison of two GT2 RS's that we did. Black is stock and white has Fabspeed exhaust.

I just installed Sharkwerks pipe on my GT2 a few weeks ago. I love it. Just the right balance of sound for me - somewhat subtle at cruising speed and idle but comes alive when you get on it. Complete with gurgles and no cabin drone at any rpm level. No regrets whatsoever.

Also, Alex and company have great integrity and easy to do business with (not to mention he has a GT2). I installed myself. PM me if you want some flyby sound bites of the exhaust.

Your description makes it extremely tempting to switch to this exhaust.

I have 200 cell catted straight pipes...street drone is really bad, but Sharkwerks piece is a different design and might drastically reduce drone, also VTG's vs k24's...
