To GT3 or not is the question
Hi guys,
Currently have a 993 but am always looking to add a GT3 to the garage. Friend I know locally has a white .1 with ~40k miles that he is looking to get rid of for 60k, only issue is it has a salvage title. Tapped on the rear end and needed a quarter panel. Fully documented with pics and all. My question is do I walk and look for a clean title, or take the leap. I know everyone hates these threads but I am curious

For $60k it would be worth having a through PPI done by someone who knows these cars very well. Your intended use and long term plans for the car would also play an important part of the decision process. Either a track car or long term ownership with no concern for residual value would make it tempting if it passed PPI.

^ PPI as mentioned above.
My question would be do you want to drive it or use it for value? At 40k miles (prior salvage) I would presume drive it, and if you want it for several years... Buy it and drive it, smile the whole time.
If the repairs were done right, should not be anything to stress over as it is priced accordingly.

I would spend another $15k and get a comparable 40k mile car with a clean title. It will be 10x easier to sell on the back end.
I would guess $75k should easily find a clean higher mileage gt3.

you have to cut out the entire qtr panel and weld in a new one. it could easily salvage the car once everything is said and done
that being said, if the work was done right, you can get a great car at a great deal. OP, just be honest with what you want to do with the car

Thanks for all the feedback guys. A lot more thinking to do now. My intention is not to sell the car anytime soon. I drive cars because cars are meant to be driven. Really don't care about the market and speculation of where prices will be in the future.

Seems like a pretty straight forward answer then, enjoy that new GT3...

buy the salvaged car then. double check the dme to check for overrevs. they money you saved on a salvaged car you can put towards some awesome mods!

No insurance policy would approve a $40k quarter panel fix
