I dated enough women in Silicon Valley to know the right answer is......"I'm having some work done." Ha!

Truthfully, however, here is the punch list: New spark plugs; RSS mounts and transmission mount insert; oil cooler coolant pipe; coolant pipes pinned.

I'm contemplating having them do the lightweight flywheel and clutch kit...depends on how much clutch wear they find (unsure about skill of two prior owners tho it only had 6K miles)...and...the bypass exhaust kit.

That is quite an extensive list-please report on the outcome. Yep the sharkwerks guys are super friendly and very passionate about what they do. We are lucky to have guys like them committed to our machines!

Just do it! LWF & Sharkwerks bypass go together you can't one without the other!

When Zuffenhaus near Charlotte recently had my motor out for the BBI pipe welding and replacement of other "consumables", I asked him to check the wear on my PP and clutch, when he was replacing the RMS. Our car has four DE's and 29K miles. He said both were fine, clutch fingers good; I did replace the release bearing, which felt fine to me. Just our experience.

All the best....

i'm debating what else i want to do when i get pipes pinned and the metal coolant pipes installed. already have the Sharkwerks bypass, but the harmonics issue has me thinking i won't go with the LWF.

will definitely have them check out the clutch and other items while the engine is out.

I recently had my second experience with cam actuator bolts backing out.

This is definitely a 997.2 3.8L issue and its the second time for me.

I had bought the ATI Damper from Jamie and was planning to install it at the end of the season, only 1 meeting left as it turned out but I did a track day and noticed the noise and thought best to get it checked out and sure enough the bolts were coming out again.

As part of the fix the ATI damper is going on, more than likely the bolts were loose anyway when I received the damper. But additionally we have designed a 5 hole washer with locking tabs and replaced the bolts with hex heads and will also be applying a little threadlocker for overkill.

Both times I have managed to catch the issue before anything catastrophic but I have also seen the result of a catastrophic failure due to cam actuator bolts and its not pretty and if you are out of warranty, extremely expensive.

The damper is simply good insurance/value for money, but I would advise getting the cam bolts checked when fitting the damper to ensure that the best result is achieved.

Jamie is RK autowerks. You can check him out at rkautowerks.com or look up his thread here on the harmonic damper.

Along with doing what others mentioned, do the thermostat as well and check the RMS. Check all the hoses, wiring looms etc. replace anything that looks crusty or cracked. All cheap insurance while you are in there.
