991 Gt3 market enthusiasm?
Gang, just curious, do you think the 991 Gt3 has met the same enthusiasm as its 997 gt3 predecessor upon launch? Have they in part lost the recipe to inspire the purist to the same degree? just wondering what you all think... cheers... S.
p.s. I also posted this on the 991 thread for comparison...

that's kind of what I thought... people are buying them up as collectibles and I've been wondering why they would want to do that... it seems that whoever likes them has to go into a lot of detail to excuse why you eventually get used to this, or used to that, or it feels good if you push it really hard, or what bothers you at first you eventually get to like... and so on... it's not the instant wow, this just feel perfect, how can it get any better, which I used to hear more of with the 997 launch...

991 gt3 market is strange
i haven't met a single owner who had a 997gt3 prior. not one, and there are 30 just in my city. ok that may be unique to where I am but still
then, there are A LOT of cars on the market, yet all are commanding MSRP prices. i don't get it.

give it time it's a great car
I am a multiple cup car and 997/6 gt owner and still have 7 gt inc 4.0
991 is a different car, not a bad car
some of the newer drivers leave much to be desired, but that's not the car's fault.

Demand is like it was with the 997GT3. The RS will also be the same way.
They are both amazing cars.
The real question is will they hold value after 3 years. But we never knew that about the 997 series either..

don't worry about value, worry about how many miles u can put on it.
driven in wet foggy SF dirt....
says 50mph zone ends.
the next section is 105 mph limit.

Just like other high end sports car manufacturers, Porsche is also in a situation which no longer allows it to inspire purists alone when launching new GT cars.
The world is a bigger place now, where customer bases are becoming necessarily larger and more diverse, and with this comes the need for companies like Porsche to provide all the latest gadgets and technology even at a GT3 level.
I think the 991 GT3 has met a great deal of Enthusiasm at its introduction; in absolute numbers perhaps more so than the 997 GT3. In "purists only" numbers, though, probably not. But this doesn't take away fromt the fact that the 991 GT3 is an amazing Porsche GT car on its own right.
Personally, I love my 997.2 GT3 and would not give it up for a 991 GT3. But I'd certainly have both int he garage if I could !

Three Wheelin'
Wow that is surprising......my experience is opposite, almost everyone I have met that has a 1 GT3 currently owns a 7 GT3 or had one in past. I have 7 RS and a 1 GT3 and I drive the s*** out of both. Many are on endless quest to prove one is better than other, which one will have better resale, which one will be last manual transmission , which one will be last NA. ....wasted energy imo, just buy one or both and drive em till they're dead.

To be honest, I personally find the 991 uninspiring. Driving a 991S or 991 C4S feels exactly like driving a Panamera GTS (and the interiors are practically identical). The 991 turbo was boring as hell and in my opinion Porsche has finally and fully "dialed out the 911 out of the 991". I have had a chance to drive the 991 GT3 a few times and once on the track and all I can say about that car is that I am faster around the track with that car, "but there is absolutely nothing about that car that makes me a better driver".
The above is purely my opinion and I reserve the right to change my opinion based on on bribes, blackmail or after drinking :-)
