Default is the 3.8RS going to hit $200k before the next economic crisis?

Feels like that is the number it will hit just before the next big crash.

I could see the really low miles, highly optioned, good color and PTS cars hitting 200K.

I don't recall seeing a non 4.0 actually selling for 200K+but if so cool drives the entire market upwards.

My professional, unbiased opinion is yes. In fact I predict that they will go to $300k in the next year. With that said, I will gladly sell mine for $250k!

In all seriousness, a PTS 3.8 RS did sell for $230k at the Gooding auction a few months ago. http://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/201...97-gt3-rs-3-8/

Looks like the CGT has hit its peak at $700-$800k now as I see several on the market just sitting. Same with the Ford GT sitting at $250k - $300k with 50 on autotrader right now.

I guess what I meant was that if the plain vanilla 3.8RS is going to get to $200k? No PTS, no super low miles. I have my doubts...

They're selling for $180-210k at the moment on autotrader. There's one high mileage one selling for about ~$165k, and some crazy guy trying to get $225k for his low mileage example (I think he may be successful by the end of the summer/fall). I'm guessing within a couple of years you won't be able to find any under $200k unless they've been in a serious accident.

Considering how well the 'wealthy' or privileged among us have done in this economy the last few years, I'm guessing that most purchasers of the 991.1 RS and 991.2 RS aren't going to trade in their 997.2 RS but just add to it. I plan on keeping my 997.2 RS 3.8 and I already have a deposit down for the 991.2 GT3 RS. I want the last of both generations. After the 991.2 we're either going to see hybrid or turbocharged GT3s.

The ever increasing prices reflect the respect that car enthusiasts have toward this car.

I believe prices are going higher.

The 3.8 RS is irreplaceable. Period.

Nothing you can buy to get the same enjoyment and durability at a reasonable price point.

Also, keep in mind there's about 400-600 of these cars in North America depending on the source. At least a quarter of the owners are here on Rennlist. Word has spread fast that this is going to be the Porsche to keep long term --I've noticed this year when I talk to other owners at meets how discussion revolves around how quickly the car has become an icon. The 997.2 is the next 993, and RS3.8/4.0 is the epitome of the generation.

Quick Reply: is the 3.8RS going to hit $200k before the next economic crisis?
