How do you read over rev report?

If you can point me to a link or explain in more detail it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a dealer that is telling me that there is some formula that they can look at that tells them if it was tracked, mostly highway or a C&C car. All this from the rev report. I don't know if they look at number of hours at what rpm etc.. or if they are just making assumptions from the data.

Is there more than one tab of data that most people show with the different ranges and hour it happened and how many times?

Is that all it is? I was under the impression that there was more additional data than that from what this dealer told me.

They can calculate average speed based on the operating hours and the mileage on the odometer. Then they look at the over-rev report and can make an "educated guess" as to how the car's been driven. Which, as you said is just an assumption.

There's a lot of assumptions to be made. I've owned a heavily tracked car with zero overrevs. Zero.
I've also sold many street-driven cars which had thousands and thousands of range ones - somebody just liked shifting at redline.

Avoid range 5 and 6, period, or cars with heavy numbers of 3 and 4. That's a good rule of thumb without getting way into detail.

carfax, dme etc are only one facet of many ...
just bc someone has no std, doesn't mean she's Virgin.
carfax dme etc tells u that much.

non of my heavily tracked cars have over rev period.
but my wife can over rev, destroy the granny. clutch and blow up engine while taking out the entire hose just backing cars up. oh, I'm not kidding either. 1/3 of my house crumpled bc of her.

Yep. DME is just 1 tool in a long list of physical observations (and owner discussion) that can tell how well a car was driven and maintained. This is why I think bringing a car to an experienced shop that knows GT/Cup/race cars for PPI is key, they will know right away (if you don't have the experience). Most dealers have no clue, they just don't see enough of these things.

you can tell if she forgot to take off some of her make-up, wears business jacket with trackpants and has some 'marks' in certain places, mainly in undercarriage.
also, stance and poise is tell-tale and any roughness in disposition.

Ahhhh...amps. I love them, especially the 50+ year old ones with vacuum tubes - the kind you plug a Strat or Les Paul into...

So sad, I haven't turned on my turntable in 6 months. So busy.... I'm mostly cured, have my vinyl, but downsized. Just focus on the music now. Prefer live shows anyway. Porschephilia is worse.

I'm with Jack on this; guitar amps are the only ones I know anything about. I've hit mine into serious overrevs through the years.
