Is a 997.2 GT3 worth 2x a 997.2 C2S?

About 2 years ago I debated between a 997.2 C2S and 997.2 GT3 and I decided to get the C2S to be more responsible as the GT3 was at the upper end of my budget and wanted to leave some room for buffer. If I was to get the same GT3 today it would be about double the price of of the C2S (probably a little more)!
I wanted to get some feedback from past owners of C2S. Is it worth it? Is the driving experience that different on the street? Is the steering that much more precise / enjoyable? How would YOU compare the driving experience?
Thanks in advance.

I bought a well-optioned, brand-new, 2012 997.2 C2S, in November 2011. Loved it and daily-drove it like I stole it, all the way till July 2013, when I came across a 2010 GT3. Bought the GT3 on the spot.
In as much as I absolutely loved my new C2S, I found myself driving it less and less, after purchasing the GT3. All the way short of stopping driving the C2S altogether. I ended up selling the C2S Early 2014, due to lack of use !!...
Yes, they ARE "That" different to warrant one being 2x the price of the other. Totally different cars. The best short way I can describe it, is that when directly compared, the GT3 feels sharp and alive in every single detail, where the C2S feels muted and soft.

I completely agree with sixtosune. The GT3 is a brilliant street car, if I had to drive it in heavy traffic maybe a problem. Having owned a 997 C2S the GT3 is miles ahead in terms of driver experience. Yes to me double the experience! The car is tuned to deliver a sensory experience that is not comparable in a 997 C2S. The C2S is for the masses the Gt3 is for the driver. Love love my new to me Gt3. Sixtosune summed it right the C2S feels muted in comparison.
Every time I get into this car its hard to wipe the grin off my face.

i sold my 997.2 c2 and bought a 2007 gt3rs. 2 years ago the price difference wasn't much, about 40% give or take. now it's 2-3x .... that train left the station. And yes, it is worth every penny.

Two POV's:
1. What did you pay for your C2S and what were .2 GT3's selling for at that time? Same question for today. That should answer which car the market values.
2. From a personal value perspective, the GT3 is massively better than what is already a great car (the C2S). It is also a very low production, niche car that will likely hold its value long time (bubble or not). If you want the best of beed manual 911, I believe the 997.2 GT3 is it.

YMMV. i have had C2, GTS etc
after i had them, under NO circumstance do i prefer them over GT3. even in rush hour SF financial district traffic. that's .05 mph for those who dont know.
the only time i am not in a GT3 is b/c i have to haul stuff, kids, tires, mulch.. and will be in my 1 ton duramax which i feel is better than C2 still.... but i am a strange man.

My wife enjoyed and liked to ride in my former 997S, she took one ride in my GT3 with the full Sharkwerks track exhaust, and won't do it again. We are driving out out to NE this summer, and she says she will drive her Mini along side my car, just to not ride in it. Same thing with my former Superformance Cobra Replica, in a decade and 140K miles, she rode once, and said no more. Me, having grown up in TR's and MG's, I am fine with raw, visceral, brutal , hostile cars.
GT3's and other 911's may look similar, but are very different cars. It helps to be a masochist to own and drive a GT3.
All the best...

Let me put this question now a little differently: "Is an RS worth 2 GT3s?" Because this is where the marketplace is headed right now...
When I was shopping last year a 997-1 GT3 was in the 70-80s, the 997-1 RS was in the 110-120s, the 997-2 GT3 was in the 105-115s, and the 997-2 RS was in the 135-150s. At the time I felt the 997-2 GT3 was the best bang for the buck of the 4. I looked at the 997-2 RS but couldn't justify spending $50K on top of what I paid for my car (I bought it well below market). It would've meant selling my 993 to get there and there was no way I was going to do that.
Now we are reaching the point where the price difference is not $50K but $70-80K (while both have increased in value!) and soon 2 GT3 = 1 RS.

Only you can decide whether or not it is worth the extra money.
I previously owned a 997.1 C2S and now have a 997.2 GT3 and the GT3 is louder, lower riding, has a stiffer clutch and everything "negative" others have posted but the smile on my face is even bigger now than when I drove my C2S. So far my has only been a street driver and my roads are pretty smooth, I may feel differently if I lived in Midwest or NE and had to contend with potholes and brutal winters.

In a word. Yes.
I Agree with mooty. There is never a time when any other 911 is better than a gt3 or RS. Buy one.

My RS is lowered and has less insulation than a regular GT3, which makes driving on street even less desirable.
While I agree that GT3 and RS offer better overall driver experience than a C2S, I much prefer driving and parking C2S everywhere with no concerns, and it still offers me more superior driving experience than any sedans and SUVs.
You really need both in your garage.
