In Search Of A GT3. Am I Unreasonable?
#16
Yes, I bought it to drive it and and enjoy it. Driven hard, but not abused, and probably over-maintained, but that is part of the fun. I too was looking for a high(er) mile car that was well maintained when shopping. But, they are out there...!!! COTA was a lot of fun despite the rain (oh and the 12hr cleaning job of my car when it got home that track goo was like GLUE). It was cool to meet the tx crew.

This one seems right up your ally. http://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/190413
There is hope. One of the cars I maintain and recently did a clutch job will go in for sale. Owner and I had a slight conversation months back about his intentions of getting into something exotic. He responded to my email said "lets talk when I get back in town next week". It is a black 07 car.

Nice thing with the mezger it can be rebuilt- both engine/tranny. I'm not looking at collector status either. I can tell you if engine/tranny needs a rebuild- oem parts will always be better than aftermarket displacement upgrade and will garner more money when time to sell. Either build whether back to oem or aftermarket both well documented- oem always wins. Besides 415 hp is fast enuf!!! : ). Mike

to OP i think you are being reasonable. I think what you find with many of us GT3 owners that are in the mid miler range is we know they aren't garage queens, and therefore we just want to drive them and enjoy them, not sell them. Just keep your eyes open and you will find something

I think the OP's $70K target is reasonable for the type of GT3 he is looking for. The main problem is I don't think there are many of that type on market; I don't recall ever seeing a 60K+ mile GT3 for sale. Nothing wrong with that mileage but it just seems rare. Now if you up the budget to $75K, I think it opens up a lot more candidates but I realize the slippery slope has to stop somewhere.

I'd throw another suggestion for the 996GT3...performance is VERY close and you can't tell what they look like when you're driving it
It's what I did and I'm glad I didn't spend the additional $20k for the 997. I will eventually upgrade to 997 or 991 though...

This link shows the car had a natural leather interior...clearly that interior is black. Could be a mistake on the page...or could it mean something else?
That seems priced WAY low for the current market...even with close to 40K miles. The car has a ton of options on it too...random carbon here and there.
Anybody know the history of this car?

The key here is the OP states he does his own wrenching which is where most of the costs go in these jobs. Based on my own personal experience he can probably do the above list you mention for $1500 using all OEM parts.

That car was for sale when I was shopping back in July of 2013. I actually spoke to the guy about it. At the time it seemed like a decent driver and didn't pursue it further but seeing it for sale still makes me wonder what's up with it.
This one on the PCA website looks like a screaming deal instead. Someone jump on it. No affiliation and don't know more than the add

This car also has a leather steering wheel. It could be the same as my thicker steering wheel leather, which I am very pleased with. If I was in the market for another .1GT3, I would check it out. Best price I've seen for a 'no issues' car. The mileage is not an issue if maintained properly.
