These roads are very tight and have very rough surfaces, mostly 2nd and 3rd gear and extrodinarly demanding, trust me after driving the full loop, a total of 248 miles, I am one exhausted old man! I have also had extended miles in the 4.1, they are two different cars, the 3.9 is all you need for the slower tight driving on roads similar to mine, don't misunderstand they are both outstanding builds, however the 4.1 is a handful on my roads, more HP and almost too much tourqe for me, it makes way too much speed between turns on the short straights and one has to be aware of the speed generated. The 4.1 would be outstanding on a more open road with longer straights where you could actually optimize all the HP & trq, both motors are incredibly docile for daily driving on freeways and surface streets, I have driven both in Bay Area and LA traffic and they are a pleasure to drive under stop and go situations. As much as I love my 3.9 I would still love to have a 4.1 sitting in my garage but would never get rid of the 3.9. We'll see what the future holds😜 I'm not saying they are night & day different just different! They are both extrodinary drivers the 4.1 is more GT2ish!
Aye it's a tough cookie that 4.1... I'm more comfy in a 3.9 having spent more time in it that's for sure

Awesome car!

I'm looking into replacing my 997 with a mk1 GT3...would love to do a 3.9 or 4.1 build.

Alex, can you pm with some rough budget on parts for both alternatives.

It is fantasic for GT3 owners that they have such offerings as these excellent SW 3.9, 4.1 engines which seem to be proving to be reliable. Putting in a new engine like this is like getting a brand new car, the GT3 Mezger is evolving and evolving.....

I heard today that the 4.5 litre RS Tuning program has completed testing on the race program and they are building them for road cars. ~600PS/550NM

This is getting to Carrera GT levels of power and torque in a N/A screaming 911 - lucky lucky people

I would like to know what kind of RPMs those engines are spitting out at those levels. Further, the suspension on a 911 would have to be radically overhauled from the source if Porsche were to put them into any consumer vehicles. I mean crap, Porsche doesn't even use V8s in their Panamera S models any longer! I dunno, but I do, but I would still rather have the V8 in a brand new Panamera if I was to buy a new one!
