You really have to adjust how you drive these, and keep the revs up. Once I figured that out I never looked back, even after going from my turbo to the less powerful 996 gt3 which preceded my 07. The sound and feel is not even in the same category as a turbo...you are going to be thrilled.
Same situation for me. My first few track events were slower lap times and less control then the 6TT, but I've gotten quickly up to speed in the 3 and absolutely love it. Sharkwerks, alignment, pads, lock out plates, seats-bar-harness and you are good to go.

Another fascinating thing is that he is potentially the best driver out there as he passes new 2014 GT3 and such, but it also says a lot about the equipment he is driving. He equips the car with track tires - that's all. Amazing!!! Can't wait.
Wow! That's great to hear. I pulled the trigger for a .1 from Germany (just got a great deal even after all the import crap and shipping - a client is doing it) after selling my .2. The .1 is very good and more raw than the .2, revs faster than the .2 and is more finicky to drive. You'll have a blast. The only mods I'll do will be cosmetic.

Congratulations on the car.

You have fantastic self control of that is as far down the slope you have slid. These cars don't need much but so fun to enhance (well) and if done carefully make the car even better.

Another previous 997-1 Turbo owner here. If a GT3 is slower than a turbo, it ain't by much. The 997-2 GT3 is actually faster from 60-120mph than a 997-1 Turbo. Think about that for a second. And that redline is amazing. Yes, it will take you a little time to adjust your driving style, but you will NEVER look back. It's a hoot! Get a TPC DSC box for the suspension. It's a must for 997-1 cars. I'd buy that before the exhaust.

I believe you! My turbo was a beast on the long straights, but was surprised to see a .2 GT3 gain on me in the straights.

Good news, I believe my GT3 has a Sharkwerks exhaust, roll bars and a short shifter. I'll look into the TPC DSC box or whatever that is.

Yet? Carm? Have something new in the garage you'd like to share with the group?

Well now that you mention it, new yes, in my garage not yet still waiting for it to be delivered but I did acquire it last month

A 2007 completely stock garage queen of an example beauty with fresh Porsche CPO applied to it. I manage to get it since I know the dealer well so as soon as the pending deal fell through on it I was next in-line

A couple of pics as it sits in Toronto in the showroom.

Thanks!

Since the Yellow car is gone now I guess we could drive the GT3 in June to meet up with you for the F1 Race

I get that the GT3 is a race car and it belongs on the track, but is it just me that is OCD that the car be perfect - blemish free? LOL! I'm having the dealership in Colorado comb over the car before they ship it to Texas for any chips, dings or scratches. So far, they have identified just one minor scratch about 1/4 inch on the back hip finder. An obvious door ding from another car. Yep, fix it!

Yes, I'm the guy at the track cleaning my car after each session. And yes, I know the famous quote by Porsche, "Porsches are to be driven, not polished"! Gotta love it!

Hoping to get it before Christmas break.

Oh, is there anything else I need to have the dealer check before they ship it off? I've seen the DME report - no over revs. The car fax is good. Looks clean!
