World Premiere for Proxes R888R
November 27, 2014

Toyo Tire Europe GmbH, President Tatsuo Mitsuhata, announces that the new Proxes R888R track tyre has its’ World debut at the Essen Motorshow which opens on Friday.

The tyre, available during 2015, succeeds the phenomenally successful Proxes R888, a proven race winner. Used to win many championships, most recently the 2014 Toyota Sprint Series in the UK, Proxes R888 sets a high benchmark to follow.

Produced in 32 sizes initially, the new Proxes R888R takes track steering and grip to another level. With a fast warm up time, increased dry grip and sustained performance over multiple laps and heat cycles, the Proxes R888R is the ultimate track tire.

A rayon ‘super-high’ turn up ply on some sizes, combined with steel side plies, give the new Proxes R888R precise steering response and feedback to the driver allowing them full control of their race car to optimize its performance.

Running from Friday November 28 to December 7, Essen Motorshow will be the first opportunity to see the Proxes R888R tyre as well as other new products being launched in Germany.

Aren't the R888's universally hated for being crappy tires? So the "R" version is going to be better? The tread looks a bit deep.

if Toyo could make a tire that didn't delaminate, I'd buy...

you can run them as wet or dry. if dry you shave them down since the life of the tire is measured in heat cycles, not tread depth

i liked the r888, ra1, and rr. really haven't had any issues with any of their r comps!

The RA1 were their best......
It would take a free set to get me off my Nitto N01s

The R888 were not that bad, the problem is the life of the tire is limited to heat cycles rather than treadwear unfortunately. And so this makes for a very limited use before they fall off their prime performance.

Let's see what the new versions end up doing.

Seems like my experience with NT01s is that they corded before the grip fell off due to heat cycles.

True words, would be nice IF???? they are better as NT01 availability can really suck.

i must confess, I have a set of 18" R888 on my 993C4S that were hand me downs from my 997RS in 2009!

They are actually still decent when warm on the street.

Let's hope they can produce in quantities since it does not look like Nitto can get their act together, especially if it's a good tire. Would still buy Nitto if they were available! But......
