I'm a big fan - world class performance at a relatively bargain basement price! I've owned 3 vettes - a 2002 Z06, 2007 Z06 and 2009 ZR1. They all suffered from a pretty low grade interior but were an amazing bang for the buck and a lot of fun to drive. I have one of these new Z06s coming sometime in late December / early January. The one issue is that right now, the Z07 package shows as "not available" and you can only order the manual with the hard top. I'm good with the manual and the hard top but I definitely want the Z07 package. Going to see the dealer tomorrow about that issue. Their guess is that there are some production issues with the package (my guess is the brakes) so they are holding back until it is solved. As awesome as this car appears, if the new ZR1 is anything like what has been rumored (mid-engine, 800+ hp, etc) it will be a the top of the food chain. I don't think owning a vette and a Porsche are mutually exclusive - two great but different cars!

I'd be more interested in the car if it was 650 naturally aspirated horsepower and was around 3,000lbs. It's still also a Chevy.

I love it, but personally would consider it more if it were 600 NA horses, which is still way more than I would need. Can't wait to see one at the track next season.

Has anyone ever watched "How it's Made - Dream Cars" Corvette and Porsche episodes?
Just by watching those two episodes you can easily see the fundamental difference in factory organization, workers, and overall level of detail and build quality.
I do own a $60k Rubicon which is an off-road animal but that's about as far as I go with domestic...

But I just want to see how the Interior hold up after 10K miles, Cricks and Creeks and the normal sounds that come along with the methods used to assemble a typical BIG Three built intetior. Using clips and clamps instead of screws and bolts.

You don't see that type of manufacturing at say Subaru's American Assembly Plants. Give people Uniforms and a sense of belonging to a team!

Formidable cars, fabulous performance for the price. But I grew up in small cars, Anglia, TR's, MG's, small turbo cars, Cobra, and hence just much prefer small, nimble cars. Modern 'Vettes are just too big, too wide for me to really like. Sat in some at the Rolex again, doors are very tall, seats are low, can't put my arm on the door top. I'm just a small car guy, and find the modern Corvettes too big to really want to have one.
But when folks ask for my thoughts on 'Vettes, I tell them you get more performance for your dollar than any other car I can think of.
I know the famous saying, I think from Mark Donahue, "you have enough power when you leave black lines from corner to corner.' But in reality, unless one is on a track, there are scant seconds when a driver can actually use prodigious power. Which is why my son and I for the past decade plus, never drive past an Interstate rest-stop, but cruise thru, then nail it to merge, just for the few seconds of the sheer enjoyment of maximum acceleration. Like a car's top speed, I am sure I have never exceeded perhaps 110 even briefly on any public highway. So where can anyone really use 600-700 or more horsepower other than on a race track?
I am quite content with the 400 or so my GT3 has.
All the best..
