Default Coolant loss + coolant smell front radiator vent

Need new center radiator then?

No visible leaking, but the level is going down

Other hoses / parts while I am in there?

Anyone have all the part numbers to do this?

17k miles for radiator to go kaput is pretty bull****

I'm at 19K and have noticed the smell from the front radiator after I park the car in the garage. No fluid loss however. Perhaps it's a fitting?

I had chat with shop on this a few weeks ago. The radiators do essentially time out the side tanks tend to develop leaks. Its pretty well known issue (unfortunately) I plan to replace mine proactively (cup cars do) during next down season/hot season. They're not too expensive. They do have a company they use for custom radiators that are much more durable, us made, etc (not csf).

So I basically go borrow a pressure tester, pressure test system with front end off and find what is leaking?

This is highly annoying

I had one of the radiators started leaking(passsenger) and had it replaced(21k). They do time out- kinda sucks. Mike

Are you sure the coolant loss is associated to that front radiator?

Look for slight moisture on the radiators where the plastic tanks are bonded to the aluminum core. The bonding agent(glue) breaks down over time. We have replaced a lot of radiators for this reason. Although this occurrence is more common on the turbo cars than NA cars.

This is going to sound too simple, but check the radiator cap. The system operates under pressure and the first coolant leak i had was the cap. The tech said it is pretty common.

I have also had the passenger side radiator and the center radiator replace under warranty, but there was fluid on the garage for both of those issues.

She's hot no coolant anywhere - end caps look old but aren't cracked and are dry despite coolant temp at 200 right now

Exhaust smells fine no smoke no sweet smell

Where else can it be going?

I've got sweet smell after running from the front left. Coolant loss over 6 months, needed ~1 liter top up. Had Porsche pressure test the system, told me no leak. Yeah right...

Expansion tank is another known problem area (I replaced mine when I had engine dropped.... not very expensive part).

Do you see any white/pinkish 'fuzz' looking stuff anywhere up front, the hoses up front, etc?? Nothing??

If not, pull the bottom trays, check there. If not there, it's somewhere in the back.

My wife's mini is losing f-in coolant again. Had thermostat and water pump replaced a year ago, that took a pressure test to find, it's not burning it that I can tell... about 1 cup ever couple months, it's super slow. Damn mini.

little white around cap - so I bet there is SOME loss there, but this is bigger than that.

Given I am now being super ****, I notice a noise the car makes on shutdown after being warm that is different than other cars I have owned.

video:

Sounds like water gurgling - thoughts?

Interesting, never noticed that before. I can check mine tomorrow, need to load up on trailer ...

Hey so your car, have you had any of the cooling system removed or drained or engine removed recently???

I know on mine, despite using the suction method for getting the massive amount of coolant back in the car after engine drop I had to add nearly a gallon of distilled water over a few drives.
