All 997-series Cup cars have smaller diameter multi-disk clutch. They look nothing like the clutches on the street cars. The last Cup car to share pressure plate with street car was the 996 Cup, which was factory equipped with exactly the same part # pressure plate as the following street cars: 996 GT3, 996TT, 996 GT2, 997. 1 GT3, 997 GT2 and GT2 RS.

Edit: part # 996 116 027 51.

OP, just curious, but why is the lwfw "not for you"? I can't wait to go to a 4.0 lwfw set up...utterly transformed my 996 gt3, and the extra chatter was neglible and a total non-issue for me. Also, I expericened no drivability issues at all. Is it because of the percieved harm that can result from the extra vibrations and bad harmonics?

Chatter is annoying my e46 had a LWFW and it was the most annoying thing of all time, constantly hearing about people nuking their motors with the harmonic/vibration issues.

OMG!!

The single best upgrade I have done to my GT3! Love the LWFW and 4.0 Clutch! So fast, so smooth and not that much chatter...hell I can't hear much over the exhaust wail anyway as I'm always over 4k RPM.

Best mod ever, period.

You dove in! Going to try out that harmonic balancer?

That's how I felt when I did it on my 996 gt3. Audipwr1, I would not use your e46 experience as a proxy for how annoying the chatter will be on this platform. As I indicated, it was a total non issue for me and I hate vibrations/rattles and chase them down maniacally. In fact, I'm removing my torque solutions tranny mount this weekend after two weeks because I just can't stand the extra noise (I get a bad rattle in the dash at high rpms, and it bugs).

Plus, I think you have a .1, right? I'm told by numerous folks that these engines, when outfitted with the lwfw (ala the .1 rs), simply don't have the flywheel bolt/harmonic issues that the bigger engines have, otherwise, we'd be seeing thread after thread about .1 rs horror stories, but I can't recall a single such report.

I'll just stay above 4k and listen to the awesome exhaust, then if the engine goes I'll have Sharky build a 4.1!

Yeah that is tough to argue with.

first .2 damper is on it's way... cheap insurance, and the 4.1 would need it even more than the 3.8...

I went with a RPS carbon/carbon clutch for my build as it has a billet pressure plate, and no straps, so if I don't rev match perfect, it doesn't put compression on the PP straps and kill the PP...
