I decided I was tired of running in 3rd place during today's club race and thought I'd let Lar take the position - but I wanted it to an honest win from his perspective - so I arrange for a casual "mistake" so that he could take the lead and feel good about it…
I'm grateful for Lar's quick thinking and not hitting me…all in all it was a fun race - but I still have a lot to learn.
My best lap times from the day were 3:22.4 in practice and 3:22.9 in the race…one other similar car is running a 3:18.xx so there is still room for improvement in my overall lap times.

I'm curious what lap times you guys are getting on the 5-mile??? My best today were a couple 3:37's. The Martini car passed me so fast today that it made me feel like I was driving a car made by Fisher Price. Nice driving btw!
This was my 5th day to run the new track, and I'm finally warming up to it. I'm still not a fan of the 3 hairpin turns, though.

This was my first time at the 5-mile and it was easily the best circuit I've ever driven. We have fun tracks in the Northwest, but there's no comparison to Thunderhill.
I got a 3:37.11 as my best lap, here's a screenshot from the AIM software:
Here's a picture of the .2 RS in the paddock:
Agree about the Martini car, wow great driving! I tried to get out of the way as fast as possible every time you went by.

First time out there for me today....S4 lap two....wish we could get more than 3-4 laps in per session.... ; (
David,
Nice job out there today! Loved the pass on the outside of T1 during the race start! I must say, your in-car footage looked much harrier than it did from the hot pit wall. As you mentioned..."grateful for Lar's quick thinking and not hitting me…" Nice driving Lars.

Thanks to some last minute nudging, I made it. Really love the new track. Very technical and has a great flow to it, especially the entrance and the cambered entrance to the downhill. Love that part! Managed a 3:34 in the second session then heat brain set in. I think based on my learning curve for most tracks, I have a ton of time still on the table. Can't wait to do it again. The pyromania and serial fly killing was endlessly amusing to watch.
This was my first full track day running the MSPC2's. Really like these tires and preliminary indications are that they wear much better than the original MSCP's. Will do a separate write up with some comparison data vs. MSCP's.

It was nice meeting some new faces as well as seeing familiar faces, especially the folks at SP who took good care of us and our cars. Thursday was the hottest day of the week and it seemed to get cooler Friday and Saturday. My first lap running the 5-mile course I think I ran a 4-minute lap because I was braking in every blind turn. By Saturday morning I was running 3:33-3:36 laps...not bad with 12+ heat cycle R6 scrubs. Here's a 3:33 hot lap from the 4th lap of the second session of Saturday.
There's still a lot of time on the table as I wasn't nailing a lot of the turns. I'm thinking maybe high 3:20s with some fresh R6s or BGF R1s.

We're going to Laguna on the 20-21st and will be at Sears on 27-28th ... come down and play!
Also, we were running the RS on Pirelli Trofeo R tires. As an aside, what would help at this circuit for the RS is to have stiffer springs and better shocks as the OEM suspension shows it's limits at this track!

Was a fun weekend but not too many cars turned out for the club race which was disappointing.
Fastest lap was a 3:10 on old scrub michi's with over 10 HC.
Don't know if I'd do the 5 mile again though
