softarga,

So, what's the verdict ?
How does it compare to the 3.8RS or 4.0 ?
Interested in your thoughts

Bill

Default Comparison

Hey Bill. I just got back to ATL from our annual "Run the Runway" event at an old B52 Airforce base in Blytheville AR. 15000 foot runway and an autocross course set up by SCCA. The GT3 is a monster. I hit 201 mph on one run. Consistently ran 198 mph runs. Will try and post GoPro video on YouTube if I can figure it out... The car was best on Autocross though. I came away with best times by a large margin. Average times of cars (lots of Porsches, GT3RS, vettes ZR1 and Z06s) was mid 70 sec range. The 991 GT3 ran 61 sec flat. My old GT3RS 3.8 was there and best run was 67 sec. The rear wheel steering and PDK is a game changer on the autocross. I decided to drive the car back home (shipped it up) for a total trip of 7 hrs since I detoured through the mountains to run my favorite run from Hiawassee GA to Helen GA. I've done that run in every car I've owned including GT2RS, 3.8 and 4.0 and various Ferraris The GT3 is best of best in my opinion and pulls much more speed than any of others, although the GT2RS had far more power. I'll need new tires and brakes as well as some new front spoiler black mesh (hit weeds on the runway at 200 mph..) all after 1000 total miles... I can't imagine what the new GT3RS will be like...

^^^Now that is a GREAT story! Were the runs timed or from speedo? If this run is done again next year, I would sure like to attend. Thanks, Allan
