Don't buy it unless u know the history from the owner or a shop
-miles can be turned back
-overrevs can be erased
-engines / transmissions / other parts can be swapped
Yes all of this happens....people are not all fair
If I sell Giesha ever.....it will be a perfect open book

I'm not debating what you guys are saying and your points are very valid. Having said that, you cannot tell me that regardless of how well maintained a tracked car might be, that there is not additional wear and tear on the car due to the nature of driving it around a track at speed.

At what point does increased wear and tear, whether by tracking or inactivity become a liability? Are you planning to own the car for 2, 5, 10, 50 years? There is no guarantee that a car that has never seen one day on track still can't have a catastrophic engine failure. What you can be sure of at least with a tracked car is that it has been stressed enough to avail any weak points likely while it's still in warranty. Garage queen; not so much.
If you really don't want to buy a tracked car, be honest and do it because you have a madonna-track ***** complex ;D

if Porsche beat GGR. Porsche wins outright
if GGR beats Porsche. Porsche may have lost, but Porsche has moral victory
Porsche always wins.

Clean / no accident Cars with lower mileage will bring more money than the higher mileage cars regardless of trackmiles. Some of us with Garage Queens ie.. lower mileage cars <10k miles do drive these cars (to keep the seals from drying) and maintain them (keep fluids fresh) . We just don't put a lot of miles on them. I drive mine a few times per month and usually at least for 200-300miles on avg. and no track miles
I think as a buyer you need to decide what you want. Do you want to pay more for a lower mileage clean car or not.
I do not think buying a new one is the best way. Let the first buyer take that hit on depreciation and buy one with low miles for the premium cars...pay less for higher mileage cars.....unless it is a 4.0 then bend over!

Haven't had the chance to get my hands on a 997 yet but spent some time driving a 996tt.
Everyone has great input, I would have to say it truly does come down to what the purpose of the vehicle will be. For me, I wanted creature comforts of a .2 GT3 because mine would be a weekend/garage queen. Cruises with the wife in ATX's hilly areas. Which helped me make my decision to go with a GT3 over a GTR.
All I know is, you gotta pull the trigger and never look back
