It’s ruby red metallic. The “story” is the original owner couldn’t get paint to sample and had the whole car disassembled and painted. Stories cars aren’t for most people on here, but i LOVE the color, and I bought it to drive the wheels off of it. The thing I really struggle with is; if I keep it long enough that it gets enough patina to warrant a respray would I switch it back to the original color? I honestly think I would keep it as is

My opinion is that the color is soooo glorious, and WORTHY,... that even if you did need another re-paint,... you would be continuing the "Story" with the car,... which in my opinion would only further ENHANCE the desirability of the car. It would be a tribute to the original owners desire to "change" the color,... which in & of itself is a cool thing. Who's to say that the factory are the only ones who can perform a quality paint job. Especially if you are driving it a lot over the years, and keeping good records of your high attention to maintenance detail,... then the sum of the entire story is better than no story at all.

Thanks guys! I didn't expect so much positive support.. I know people were pretty skeptical of the car when it was for sale. Aside from unexpected financial ruin I don't expect to sell the car. I still have the first porsches I bought coming up on 15 years ago. They're so hard to sell once you bond with them

I feel the same way! I'm even starting to appreciate the 997 carrera as a modern classic. I'm really disappointed with the aesthetic of the current 992 car. I was tuned in on the internet to watch the unveiling live... I came in very excited and left very underwhelmed. I think the 991 is a striking car, and I probably could have gotten one instead of my 997.2.... but there's something about the 997 that really fits my personality. The more modern technology they cram in, the less I'm interested.

I think its nice with the 997 platform to feel like you can take on a project here and there and it's fun. I alway felt when buying the newer cars that I was afraid to do anything to them given warranty issues and the pure fact that they were a new car so didn't want to alter it. That in addition to feeling like getting a few paint chips and wear and tear (miles) was a bit stressful. Overall, I feels more relaxed to have an older model that you can drive, repair and enjoy without worrying about everything else that comes with a new model. You can really enjoy the car this way, I feel.

Anyhow, who cares what its worth... its about how it makes you feel! I love the color personally.. I couldn't bring myself to change it if it was me! And yes, totally drive the wheels off it, that is what they are made for!
