Default oil pressure indicator fault

I was driving to town yesterday when the on board computer screen said oil pressure indicator fault. The car is a 2010 GT3 with 13000 miles. What does it take to fix this? Is it a common problem? Can I drive it? The car runs perfectly no oil drips and the car oil level is at 3/4.

Called the dealer today, they think it is a sensor failure. Lucky for me the car is a CPO ed car. Porsche is sending out a truck to pick it up for the 2 1/2 hr trip to the dealer, also covered by the CPO. The weather is still cold here, will freeze tonight. Hope the car gets back soon, it is a hoot to drive.

Make sure it's not really low oil pressure itself. That's a bad sign if it is (cam adjuster etc...). If it's just a sensor which is really rare then hopefully you're ok.

I had a bad sensor too(2011 GT3), I think it was at around 6K more or less. Replaced under warranty, but an uneasy feeling...

I visited with the service manager at this dealership and he said they see very few GT3s. Is there anything I should tell him to look for? I am worried about any potential engine damage.

If the other gauges indicated normal levels, and if you checked oil level and it was right up to the mark, did a visual inspection and saw no leaks, it's probably a defective sender, just like mine. Funny thing is I had to wait for the dealer to ship in the part since they didn't have it in stock

My wife called Porsche North America yesterday for vehicle assistance and they immediately found a car mover locally, we had reservations about the mover having experience moving a low car like a GT3. They then contacted Kelly moving out of Minneapolis, which has been transporting Porsches for" Minneapolis Porsche " for over 20 years. Rob, there driver, arrived on time today and carefully loaded the car with a truck that had a articulating bed and ramps. Jon, at" Minneapolis Porsche" sent a email with a picture of the car parked inside with another pic of the warning light on saying fault oil pressure indicator. They had already checked to see if the car produced oil pressure, which it did and they ordered a sending unit. Hopefully that is the only problem. Great service so far, very impressed.

Speaking of sensors - I have a similar issue, however it is with the oil level. Sometimes at a stoplight after normal driving I will get a low oil indicator - run the test and it shows 10%. If you run the test at the next light, it shows 90%. There are no leaks/puddles under car, etc.

If this is truly a sensor issue, how hard is the install and where is the sensor located? Are there any DIY write-ups?

Thanks!
Andrew
