Default New owner Intro: Guards Red 7.1 GT3

Hi all, just picked up a 2007 GT3 and thought I'd introduce myself to this crowd after having spent about a year on the 996 gt3 forum. Traded in my 6 GT3 on this car after falling in love with the color combo and improved (imho) aesthetics of the 997 platform (I must confess, however, that I do miss the driving experience of the 996 though!).

Here are the specs: 26k miles, full leather interior, deviated red stitching everywhere, red guages, red center console, dealer painted black wheels, bi-xenon lights, sport adaptive seats with red backs, red seat belts, lots of alcantara, painted spoiler lip, red accent floor mats, and a sharkwerks center muffler bypass!

My 996 was set up nicely with a very loud but free flowing gmg exhaust, fabspeed headers, and a fresh RS lwfw/clutch/pulley set up. The lw rs clutch set up will be my first mod on this car as I really miss the way the lwfw revs...very noticeable difference on my 996. Does the 997 platform respond equally well to the lw rs clutch parts? I'll address the coolant fitting issue at the time I do the clutch parts (can't believe I have to do this again!!!!!).

Love the improved torque curve of the 997 car, and the increased redline. Prettiest car I have ever owned. The car is in great shape even though its had a fair amount of paintwork in its life (hood, rear quarter due to accident at 1,300 miles, and both bumpers). Its also had a bunch of Hawaii owners, but I was able to track down a few of them and they all said it was a great car (the last private owner traded it on on a 450k Bentley Mulsanne, which gave me some comfort knowing that the last owner was not a 22 year old kid who thrashed it around). No track time as far as I know (Car was in Hawaii since 2010 and had none of the tell-tale track sand-blasting on muffler parts and wheel wells).

Anyway, I'm really happy with the purchase even though I already miss my 996 a bit. I look forward to spending time on this forum and learning about the 997 platform, which is new to me after having owned two 986 boxsters and 3 different 996's (I still have my turbo, which has 110k miles....just can't bring myself to sell it even though that would be the "economically rational" thing to do). I hope to the track from time to time although I'm a total newbie (one track day in my turbo and one track day in the 996 gt3)

First question: Does anyone know whether 996 gt3 fitment ccw's will work on the 7.1 gt3 for track work? If so, what would I need in terms of spacers, and what size rubber would you guys recommend? (a search did not yeild many results...will try to test fit in the next couple days).

Thanks! Scott.

im usually not a fan of red but that looks awesome!
Perhaps it is due to red GT3's being rare?

Love it!

Beautiful! Congrats, I have a feeling that painted front lip won't last too long though.

Thanks All! The car definitely gets more attention than I am used to...guess red will do that. I was not aware that red was particularly rare, and then I started looking for red ones for sale and quickly found zero other than this one.

Sharky, thanks for the kind words. Love the center bypass! The runner up if I had not purchsed this one was the white 3.9 build that is for sale up on the other forum (my buddy Robert B was steering me towards it too!) Really liked that car but it was just a bit more than I wanted to spend, and probably two hard-core for what I planned to do with it (i.e., 85% street) (my wife didn't want anything to do with my 996 gt3, so I wanted to get a car she would enjoy as well).

I love the guards red.
I remember having a hard time finding a red .1 and it seemed as though the ones I did find had bodywork done.

Are you in The Phoenix area? We should plan to do lunch some time if so.
