I paid 115k 4yrs ago....I think that I could sell for the same.
I never thought that the market would be in this shape...thank Porsche for only offering PDK with the new GT3 & possibly the RS.
It Still puts a massive smile on my face...

4 years ago the car was still under factory warranty and much lower miles. Look up old value questions from 2012, the car was 90k. Previous poster was right this is not an organic appreciation in value. Everyone should be thanking Byers Porsche who in less than 6 months started all of this craziness when it' was revealed that there would not be a manual option. They jacked up prices and that sent .1s up big time. The same will happen once .2s start to dip come winter. All but the most pristine .2s have peaked, leveled off and dropped in price. It will trickle down at some point.

Translation in GL speak? Irrationality. Bubble.
Again, don't get me wrong, folks. I want our cars to appreciate. Just... organically/sustainably.

I drove my RS for the first time today since Sebring Winterfest January 2014.
Number decals still on the windows...
It started right up, no smoke, and this time no oil leak during winter hibernation?! Yay!
I drove the car around the neighbourhood and later to pick up a Pizza. I was in 911 heaven during the commute
The car really delivers the goods as a track toy and street car. With a simple exhaust and a track focused suspension it feels like a highly tuned hot rod 911. Really it is just a stock motor car with GT2 seats and OEM roll bar. But man, it is just so damn cool to drive! The GT3 motor sings and it makes for a great power band delivery unmatched in the Carreras or GTS models.
I own a couple of 993's and although they are really fun and true to the 911, they lack the bad *** personality of the GT3. The air cooled boys really have to experience the GT3.
People are paying big bucks nowadays for backdates, 964 RSA's, air cooled turbos and 1965-1973 911s.
I think the GT3 is now amongst these legendary Porsches and people are realizing it.
Prices are going crazy but in retrospect, when compared to the "vintage" $100k+ air cooled turbos and air cooled RS models the late model 997.1 and 997.2 GT3s should be considered bargins are their current prices. They require no restoration, no real tuning or major work. Just gas.
The experience offered in a 997 series GT3 is as good as any other high end collector 911 to date IMO.
With No rattles, no squeaks.
I have owned a 997RS since 2009 and even now i am beginning to have awhole new found appreciation for what the car is. It is that good. I never took it for granted before, but now Im realizing I have something really special here that will go down in the history books as being part of a legendary 911 era.
I found myself looking for long nose 911s, 964s and 993 when really everything I could ever want is in a GT3.... I should be looking for more GT3s
I could honestly sell every car I have in my collection (muscle cars, hot rods etc) and be happy with just one GT3.
Prices are not going to get any better any time soon folks....
Now, Gimmie a green 997.1RS to go with my Orange RS and im done.

What is funny is how much you could get a Orange RS for when it was 2-4 years old. I recall seeing great buys.
I bought my first orange RS in 2009 for $99000.00. 2 owner, 20000 miles with fresh cpo engine.
I bought my second orange RS in 2010 for $95000.00. 1 owner 14500 miles with fresh cpo engine.
It is hard to find orange .1RS today, let alone for under $100k.

For a 997.1RS it is a high asking price and the car will most likely end up in the hands of a buyer who wants the RS "orange" to have as his garage candy and for the odd cars n coffee sunday.... The buyer wouldnt care about the better 997.2RS.... It would all come down to the "wow" factor and "dream car" of the buyer.
With this mileage, tuck it away for 10-20 years and it is a $200k+ car at Sloan

Personally I think what's contributing to these prices for .1 cars are 3 main factors. I'm sure you could come up with a bunch of others like the 991s blowing up and no manuals, but I feel these are the main ones.
One there's only a very limited amount of cars out there. Most buy and hold. If there's about 5 cars for sale in the country you better believe it you're paying top dollar.
Two, it's an RS and some point it will be a highly collectible car. People realize that and get on the bandwagon early.
Three, all porsche cars have gone up in value these past couple of years, some more than others. When you have 993, 964s selling for a LOT of money of course the special cars like the RS will appreciate.
