Default 997.2 power steering pump failure?

Hi guys, we're having a problem with the power steering on a 997.2 PDK 911. Steering Wheel is very very stiff.

PS Reservoir is full of fluid, there is no leaks, could it only be the pump?
Car was hit in the rear in the past, broken up the pulley of the ps pump.

is it possible that it broke something Inside the pump???

do you think i need a replacement or we can rebuild it??

we're bringing the car on track in less than 12 days, kind of a hurry here.

thanks a lot

A few things to consider :

This is the 997GT2/GT3 forum, you might want to post your question on the 997 forum and could get more help there.

Secondly,is the pump making any kind of noise when you're turning the wheels?

You have to remove the serpentine belt and check the movement of the power steering pulley. It should move freely with no noise or play.

It could also be a problem with the steering rack, but since you said the car suffered an accident,I would check the PS first.

thanks for the reply,

we decided to change the ps pump since it was making a strange noise.
unfortunately, that wasnt the right problem

we put a gt3 steering rack and it fixed the problem!

now my dad can do his race school next week
