Default Considering a 997.2 GT3 RS

Hi, I'm looking into getting a 997.2 GT3 RS. Perhaps some of you guys can help me with a couple of questions:

1. Ceramic brakes. I know the basics as far as braking performance is concerned. My question is regarding their lower weight. It's unsprung weight so I wonder if it leads to noticeable handling improvement? Does it help acceleration since it reduces rotating mass? Any drawbacks other than the upfront cost?

2. How big of a factor is mileage in the GT3 RS market? I am not looking for a garage ornament so higher mile cars are potentially what works for me, I just don't want to overpay. If we take a 5,000 mile car as a base, what discount would the market require for the identical 10,000 mile, 15,000 mile, or 20,000 mile car?

If these topics have already been discussed in the forum I apologize for bringing them up again. Thanks in advance!

In my opinion

Mileage doesn't matter..u buy for the seller

One owner cars with a good seller are the ones to target...or cars that u can talk to both owners

Mileage, track usage, overevs are all items that can be altered and are not always correct

I bought a 2010 RS certified car with 7500 miles, two years ago. I tracked the car 4 times the first year, and removed the ceramic brakes & rotors and replaced with steel, due to their replacement cost. With it's increasing value, I have not tracked as frequently but really enjoy the ride, yet now only have 10,500 miles...with resale value in mind, I wouldn't put those kind of miles on this car.....and certainly concur with what Izzone said above!

More important, as stated, whom you buy from rather than mileage.

As for PCCB's vs. steel, the weight difference is not negligible.

So when you guys say it's about who you buy from, do you suggest buying from the actual owner that you can talk to rather than a dealer? Seems most cars out there are offered by dealers...

Mooty, I'm looking so if you actually have cars you'd consider selling it pobably makes sense to talk. Not much of a downside...

Nothing wrong with buying from dealer if you find the car you want. Just do your homework.

Carfax - not so much for repairs but to see registration history.

PPI - from independent shop.

Check that all recalls were done.

Leak down and compression test.

Post it up here and check gt3 registry, although it appears no longer actively managed.

U see FerrariPete

Vw...unlike ur beloved fiats...don't break at the track if treated properly

A low mile gt3 that has been sitting...needs to stay sitting

The engines require spinning parts to lubricate the wet seals
