Considering a GT3 - have questions
#16
I've owned turbos, an NSX and my last car was an '11' GTS. The one car that was always in the back of my mind was the GT3. I'm happy to say that come Monday morning I will have scratched that itch with a 2010 GT3. The GT3 is a unique experience.

Depends on what you want to do with it.
Here is what I got:
• 19-inch GT3 wheel with center lock
• 6 speed manual transmission
• 6-point belt passengers side
• Club sports package
• Dynamic engine mount
• Floor mats
• Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and Navigation Module
• Sound Package Plus
• Sports bucket seats
• Telephone module
• Universal audio interface
• Windscreen with grey top tint
And what I did not want:
PCCB
Lifting system

Hi guys, sorry if I am bumping an old thread but I guess I missed the boat in April to start looking for a GT3.
I am trying to do my homework, and thought maybe you guys can help me understand if there are other things I can look for that might not be as obvious (specific to the GT3) when considering a purchase.
For example, I test drove a 2007 997.1 GT3 with a little over 11K on the clock. The car felt great; tight steering, awesome sound and loads of analog buttons (no nav or any LED screens). However I noticed that the front tow hook cover was loose and the same for the roof rail covers. Typically I these are pretty tight and are a non-issue, but these weren't seating well. Is this a normal issue?
Also with only 11K, the front oil coolers looked like they have seen some rocks as I noticed more than a few fins were bent. Is this also normal wear? I just figured a car with that few miles would be in better shape around that area (I could be wrong).
If I am buying from a Porsche Specialist I should still ask to see the following:
1. PPI
2. Over rev report
3. Service history
4. Carfax report
5. Engine leak down test (is this necessary?)
7. Test drive (completed)
Thanks in advance for any help. I hope to find one of these

The coolers will get dents if there are no screens protecting them. The tow hook cover is not the toughest part on the car. I'm not sure about the rail issue. Any 911 I've had has not had loose rail covers.
No matter who you are buying from get the items you noted above.
As part of a PPI I'd want the car up in the air with the bottom panels removed for inspection. I'd also pop out the frunk liner and check that area for damage/repair.
A car fax report may show nothing if the repair was paid out of pocket
Yes on the DME report and service history. There should be at least one service record per year. My 2010 GT3 was 4 years old with 9500 miles on it when I purchased it. The owner had a receipt for every time he took the car to the dealer including each annual service.
Any chance you can talk to the original owner. Most will say buy the owner. That's what I did with my car.

Okay thanks Alan. I will see about that. Apparently the car was purchased from the owner in Utah and now its at an independent, specialty dealer in NJ. I have sent an email to the dealer to see if I can get more information.
