Default Is it time to replace MPS Cup tires?

Sorry for the Newb question...I am not too sure, but is it time to replace these tires?

Rears look just about shot, front have very little left on them. Depending on how many heat cycles on them they may have no grip at all left in them.

I don't like running new rear and old fronts. PSM takes a fit because of the different grip levels so I'd change them all out at the same time. If you want to stretch it out you might get 4-6 30 min sessions out of the rears. Check the rears inner edge put the car up in the air or the wheel off. Sometimes sitting on the ground like that hides the wear which could be at the belt on the inner edge.

If they still stick, I'd say there's another day left on those rears also... I threw them away at about that level because they had heat cycled out and were sliding all over the place...

Good for autocross and work on car control. I probably would them on track though- don't see any cording as long as not Daytona banked ovals type track. Mike

A few more runs- I'm going through the same thought process-
Size: 235/40ZR18 $331.00 (each)
Size: 295/30ZR18 $400.00 (each)
I drive to events and need some tread. I ask friends to bring my worn to the track to use them up on multi day events. I have 3 sets of wheels.

For street driving swap to Michelin SuperSports.
For track they are fine.

I've been going back and forth over Super Sports and Cups...but at the end of the day, the car is what it is partly because of the cup tires. I may drive it more often in the street, but on that once in a blue moon weekend twisty road, or trackday...the car just feels so awesome, don't know if supersports would cut it.

Have the SS in a C63...although different diameter...the grip levels are just very far.

Too bad the choice I made is so expensive though...

Thanks for the tips...I might just drive this a few more times and replace all 4 corners at the same time.

As a rule of thumb...would one replace when the wear bars are reached? Or when the wear bars are erased?

Still felt like it had a lot of grip in my last twisty road driving...but that's probably the outside of the tire working and not the inside...

I think you can still use them a bit, I would check the pressure when you track because the centre part is more worn than the outside: it maybe a little high.

Actually- due to load rates- Rear tires should have a higher pressure and the results are slighty more worn in center. The wear on those rears is what I would expect. I've been trying to reach Michelin to find out what the initial softness for a type A tire durometer would read on a new tire and if there is a guide as to what hardness number they would be considered marginal or cycled out. Visual not good enough . I have 3 sets of MPSC & wheels and I'm looking for a better way to determine if I should throw them out or use them. Looking at that rear tire on Exacc it looks like he has alot of rollover & could probably use a little more negative camber ?
