Default Kudos: SharkWerks Customer Service

A quick note to recognize excellent customer service. When I bought my GT3 it had an early SharkWerks center muffler bypass that sounded great - but it was severely cracked due to improper fitment and installation by the original owner's Porsche dealership.

To his credit, even though I was not the original owner of the car or purchaser of the bypass, Alex at Sharkwerks stood behind the product and sent a brand new one with prepaid return shipping for the original!

Folks, in my book that is exemplary customer service and it deserves recognition.

How do you know it was cracked due to poor installation ?
When I bought my car (avatar) it had a SW bypass which I immediately removed and sold....it was cracked in so many places after only 1600 miles I had to spend $300 to fix it for the new owner.

Thanks for the compliment; my favorite photo of my ex-RSA. My former neighbor was a professional photographer and he used a 4x5 large format camera with slide film. I miss that car...

Once I have my GT3 ready and the weather cooperates (5 more inches of frickin snow again today), I will ask him to take photos of it so I can update my avatar! :-)

The newer bypasses are made such that the pipes are flush with the mounting flange; remember, these are hand-made and on some of the older ones the pipes extended a bit past the mounting flange. I could see right away why mine cracked, because when the pipes were tight to the car the flange was about 3/16" away from where it mounts to the car, and when the bolts were torqued the flange was bent and under stress. Stainless steel and vibration, only a matter of time until it was cracked all around the weld and outward to the edge. In cases like this, the installer should have ground down the excess pipe so that the flange mounted flush and there have been no problem.

Again, thanks to Alex for being honorable and standing behind his product.

Hi bill weird and sorry 'bout that;( Wish we'd known and/or seen it. And in any case happy to re-imburse you the 300. We had two runs of 20 each that were weaker than we'd like at the buttress. Being hand made etc.. we changed the design a good while ago to make it different. One issue was people were actually going too hard on the tq of the clamps which we only intended to be for "locating". So once the stainless pipe was overtightened with the clamp and the metal bent.. vibration/heat etc.. That and heavy aftermarket tips! We figured out that one later too.

Snow is the enemy on the west coast. I don't believe it's been seen in years....

Its like going to a top michelin star restaurant, prix fix menu, compared to cheesecake factory that hands you a friggen book for a menu and it's a process of elimination to find something to eat and it will probably suck anyway. Chef knows what's best, expert guidance, that's what I want to eat.

Kudos to Alex and Sharkwerks !!!!!!!!

After my post above, Alex reached out to rectify the issues I had with the SW exhaust.
Even from the other side of the country he worked to make it right.

+1 to everything said, great outfit that stands behind their products.

+1 - Alex and Dan are great people... great products... and good business ethics... not many has good business ethics these days... i think some of us has had bad experiences else where. I have a sign on my head "Dumb guy here" People take advantage of my stupidity. SW took care of me when I was lost.
