The 996s have another 10 years before they start to approach the mythical collector status, so it's a tad to premature to conclude on their "end game" for resale.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the collector car values. I LOVE the 356, but for simple driving pleasure, I would never buy one ahead of a current generation 911. Is it nostalgia? Perhaps. Is it superior technology? Hell, no. Is it more fun to drive a 1980s vintage 911? I don't think so, unless you want to take corners at speed without a net. No thanks.

Singer 911s are very cool and special but for the money, I'll take a new one, thank you very much.

How soon we forget, with the hullabaloo with the 991's PDK. There's no IF.

I must have misinterpreted it when you said gt3rs and if - I am not aware of a PDK equipped rs... As in "if your RS is a manual"

To date all available RS are manuals

Not for long I concede

The PDK is great but for the street, *NOTHING* beats a manual transmission with 430 horses running hard. NOTHING.

If you're looking for an investment, put it in real estate.
i agree. 50 is the nicest porsche selling at the moment.
obviously it does not compare to a 7.2 rs, but if the op is not
a tracker and just wants one nice daily driver and no track car, then it could just be the ticket.

Interesting side note comment.... Last weekend I get a late txt from my shop, they had heard from PMNA that the 918 was going to show up at Irvine C&C with Jeff Zwart, along with a Singer, and the Sharky 4.1 joining the party. So of course I need to go, it was my maybe 1 or 2 visit per year. Showed up in my dirty as hell track rubber coated RS (which got a lot of pics LOL.... as using for intended purpose).

Anyway on the Singer. Walk over there with a couple guys from my shop who are probably some of the 2 most anally detailed people I know. We are talking about the Singer, they are impressed with the look and especially the interior details. Although comment it seems to be running off, but does sound good. Then the driver door opens. Made a nasty click during opening. I didn't hear it. Shop guys say "wow, not impressive, hear that?" I did hear it when he closed door. For the $ they are charging, fix the nasty click. Small details matter.

it would be nice for the 991RS to have the same color inserts as the 50th in the sport buckets

No contest. Keep the RS. You'll thank us all in 1-2 years, if not 1-2 months.

do not get caught up in the glitz and the glam of the new 991 carrera with 50th bits on it.

As nice as it is, it is just a carrera at the end of the day.

The 997.2RS is the last of the manual tranny short wheel base water pumpers.

The 997RS series is the next 911 "must have" in any collection or drivers garage.

Desireable Air cooled 964 and 993 models are already sky rocketing.
The GT3 in the water cooled era will follow suit especially with time.

997.2RS = Special car that it truly the last of its kind.

On to the Singer...I would love to know if any of these cars have resold for more than the owner paid. I suspect there have been far too sold to have any real info. I would LOVE to have a Singer. Spectacular in every way. Would I sell my 997.2RS for one....yes. (only if the numbers were equal which they aren't. A Singer is $400k...)

Echo... You could probably get 160 for the RS. I had an order in for the 50th and then I drove a GT3. Cancelled the order, got the GT3. Then I drove an RS...
